GPI/BCC Spotted Hot Stamps (3 Viewers)

Was hoping to see a 5 included with this. Strongly considering a microstakes/tourney order. Regardless, this is the best 6-chip lineup I’ve seen top to bottom. GB-worthy, IMO.

Well done.

Thank you Scott! @JoeBGo got those last details perfect! Maybe we can make sure that the 5 from the cash set uses a 314 spot so it can be used in the tourney set as well. :)

Alright folks! This is the one! Tourney set is finished! Once the cash set is complete I will post a new thread to get an estimate on numbers.

My only hesitation here is the spots on the 100 and 500. Sky blue and antique white are so close that they will both appear as white spots. The option "A" of @JoeBGo had better color balance imho

May as well throw in my best attempt.

Uses all 10 colors, only two colors used more than once (cranberry, antique white), no duplicated colors on adjacent chips, and none repeated as base or spot colors. Retains the white T500 coveted by @MoscowRadio and addresses concerns expressed by @superchromix and @BPTDirector about the T100 spots.

Note: Using a no-denom stamp on the red chip allows it to be used as T5 or T25000, which would appease @Psypher1000 .

This looks awesome!

This is the best of the mockups I think. Don't know if I can pull the trigger on this because of timing (recovering from ordering my cpc cash set); but if these are available later in the year I'll go after a tourney set.

Empress secondary 25 (y)
For exactly that reason, I also mocked up a second version, with the spot colors swapped on the T25 and T25K. I still like this one better.

The white with lavender is a pretty sharp chip, and I much prefer the black with camel spots vs either the light blue or pink/coral (nice, but overdone).

Quick question. I had a ton (90%) of spinners in my Paulson Avalon set....across all colors.
How are the recent AS stamped chips?

Also, as far as I can tell, even though the chips will be pressed w BCC equipment, I believe the formulary to be GPI and not BCC. In other words, the chips will feel like Paulson and not BCC.

Note: I reserve the right to be 100% wrong.

IMHO this is by far the best mockup so far (and actually the only one tempting me to buy a set of these). Finally something that looks like a decent set of poker chips, instead of something from the candy store ;)

I have seen no spinners at all in my AS hot-stamped set. The suits mold seemed to exhibit this trait somewhat commonly; I have always suspected that it was due to a slightly thinner chip thickness in the recessed area.

I think most people who have handled the GPI Blue Chips agree that they are very similar to chips produced on BCC's sun and flame molds. The Gemaco's promotional chips (PCF tourney, Apache Elite, and others) also exhibit characteristics very similar to the Blue Chip product line.... certainly much closer than to RHC chips, which would be the closest comparative Paulson mold.
the Columbani chips feel like BCC
Yep, that would be my assessment as well.

I have samples of the columani chips and a set of the Elites and to me they feel much closer to a Paulson chip than BCC and I've had tens of thousands of each....but like most things it's subjective.

Not being argumentative, just curious -- which specific BCC and Paulson chips did you directly compare them to?

And do you think the Colombani and Elite chips are similar to one another?

Not necessarily a side by side comparison as the only BCC chips I have left is my MGK stamped set, sample of Mardis Gras V2, and a stamped set of Paulson Fun Nites. But in general BCC chips have always felt slightly harder than the modern Paulsons I've had and the Elites and Columbani feel softer; more like Paulson than BCC. Even with the larger inlay and no-mold, the Elites sound similar to Paulsons than BCC.

To me the similarities in sound and feel lead me to think the promo chips and Columbani use same ingredients as standard Paulson chips. And from a production standpoint I'm not sure it would make sense for them to aquire/use different raw materials. But again, I am quite possibly 100% wrong. If only we could ask...

We, as a community who actually cares about the differences in "feel" between Paulson, CPC, and BCC chips, we are so damn crazy... :ROFLMAO: . I bet not even the engineers at GPI give a second thought to things like this..

Well, I certainly agree that it makes economic sense to use the same base materials for all of their 'clay' chips, although we know that some components (added for weight) are sometimes left out (Paulson Pro, and likely both the Gemaco and BC chips). And it would make economic sense to use the same colors, too .... but that clearly isn't the case for the two non-Paulson lines.

It's also feasible that they have a large stockpile of the old BCC materials (base components and dyes) from that company assets purchase, and are merely attempting to generate income using stuff that would otherwise just sit in storage.

Only real way to determine it (aside from disclosure from GPI) is to run a materials analysis on several samples from each product. That's a costly proposition, unless done in the name of scientific curiosity as a group buy to share the expenses.

I was hoping you'd throw your hat in the ring, @BGinGA!

I have a question that I’ll put as nicely as possible to avoid hurting the delicate sensibilities of the Sally Sensitive chippers out there, I know that words can hurt sometimes and I’m sorry.

Are you planning on setting a date to have the design finalized @MoscowRadio? These types of design by committee threads can potentially go on forever without consensus, hence my previous post on the matter.

TIA :)

This design will be finalized today. It's impossible to give everyone here what they want, so I'm making a mock-up of what I believe to be the best chips and then we will move to the cash set which will not take as long as the tourney set mock-ups.

Excellent sir. Appreciate your answer. Thank you

This is absolutely the final mock-up for the tournament set. I've tried to incorporate as much of what people like into it, but we could go on forever doing this. I will post it in the OP as well. The T25k shown will also be the same as the T5 because that die will be made for the cash set anyways, so it'll be up to you to choose if you want to incorporate a T5 or a T25k in your tournament set.

Thanks everyone. Now let move on to the cash set with progressive spots!
