I’ve found oxy clean actually takes RHC chips that feel very “plasticy” feel a bit more chalky. I like it.

I’m really bad at math and when I cook I don’t measure anything, so I’d say it’s somewhere between a relatively small amount and I have no fucking clue lol. But for what it’s worth the expert @Josh Kifer advised me to make it a relatively weak Oxy solution. For the Harrahs chips it really didn’t take much Oxy, the dirt is dark but very much surface level. But with cancelation marks I’m guessing you’re gonna need a stronger solution and from I hear you’ll need way more elbow grease. I’ve never had to remove cancelation stamps so hopefully someone who has can chime in.
All your doing is a hint of oxy to help break down the crime for the Magic Eraser to pull it. It's way weaker than my soak Oxy when I use it. You can use Dawn if you want, but Oxy just does a better job. But don't soak. Literally just use it as the magic eraser lube.

Haha alright… yeah I should have been more clear it’s the stupid marker they use on the edges that seems to bleed deep into the clay…
I’m hoping the oxi might be able to clean it…

The question is would you rather have some fading Or have to shave the edges until the mark is gone…
If your talking a Sharpie, oxy soaks might lighten it up a hint. You can also try a Hydrogen Peroxide soak (I'm talking 12hrs here... Not an hour or two) and see if that can pull some of it out. It does a good job of pulling out stains in the clay.

Generally Sharpie is kinda a lost cause.

Um, I’d have to see the specifics. But if those are the only two options, I’d probably stick with the dirt.
Here’s some pics of what I’m talking about… these are the main marks

Some have the shit caked on the face…

Majority have a light discoloration that does not come off with the magic eraser…

I honestly hate the way it looks and would rather have faded if it actually works… but it’s sounds like it could be faded and still have these damn marks…

That won't do anything to cancellation marks.
I'm familiar with point-shaving but I have to admit I'm not familiar with chip-shaving
Sanding might be a better term… it felt so shitty tbh

Send them to Danny to have them edge treated. Don't just sand the spots. He can grind them out.

The stains on the faces probably won't come out

Yeah that’s a problem. I would write them off as ruined. Good luck with it. Like somebody else air, I don’t think oxiclean would get that off; it would probably fade everything a bit.

In my experience, if there's edge marks/cancellations with something like a sharpie - it's gonna soak into the chip. You can mill/grind/shave off the edge, but that sharpie mark will have soaked into the chip - and when you shave it, you'll actually see the sharpie mark stand out more as the "new" exposed clay of the chip will be brighter and cleaner, contrasting against the sharpie mark. Whereas when the chip is dirty - it blends in more.

Porous + Sharpie = headache

I use the Sterlings a lot (I bought a 1/2 gallon jug - lol).

I have not found that it dries the chips any worse then dawn or any other mild dish soap.

I’ve cleaned thousands of chips with it, it’s my goto for anything I can’t put in the U.S. cleaner. (Also use the magic eraser on the edges a barrel at a time)
Yep, +1 for Sterlings. Have always had good luck with it. YES, I’ve used Dawn many times too!!!

I know the challenges of cleaning hot stamps carefully. You seem to be doing fine. But if you want to try anything else, that Sterling’s Magic pink cream does a great job with no damage or discoloration nor does it dry out the clay.

Have you compared quick N brite to Sterlings?

I bought some cause it’s cheaper with free/quick shipping on Amazon and it’s supposed to be non abrasive like Sterlings
