OK something else just caught my attention. There are chips that say HARRAH'S and chips that say HARRAH'S CASINO. Seems to be in all of the 39mm denominations. For this set I may have to break my hard and fast rule to not sort chips. I know how OCD some of you are.
For these i wouldn't bother sorting myself. They all look and say pretty much the same.

For a set like Tachi Palace mixing both white and yellow inlays, I would say sorting would be a thing, as I would hate to mix half yellow half white.

I'm sure YMMV

Edit to add:
If @Rieguy is correct in his asumption that one of the versions have substantially more play then the other, then I would absolutely suggest sorting, but it would be mainly because of condition rather than design.

I'll take an unsorted set if it gets me to the front of the line!!!

The dye lots are different in the 25s and 1k. For that reason alone, I think I need to sort.

Meh or leave it to the secondary market. Lots of previous sales it seems people manage to buy more than they need and then sell condition sorted things. Could happen here too

Is this true of the $5s as well?

Made it back to NC! I sign a lease on a new warehouse today, so I will post some more pictures when I get them inside our new secret secure location. Here are some quick notes from the couple of boxes I opened. The chips are in really great shape. All of the foil on the chips is in tact, edges are sharp and all of the cross hatching is in great shape.
Oh, F me!! I've been doing so good in chip buying retirement (kind of). I'm screwed now!!

And before I forget, THANK YOU for bringing such awesome chips to market!! (:

These chips are amazing! What blows my mind is how many people are trying to talk Jim out of pre-sorting, which he said he was willing to do. The actual stamps are different! Why would you want to have to trade and deal with that after the sale?? Pay more in shipping and deal with market inefficiencies? I don’t get it, why am I missing?

I’ve liked the way chiproom sales have been in the past - you pay a really cheap price and you get a great rack of chips for that price. Maybe there are some special edition chips mixed in, maybe there are some mint chips mixed in with the used ones. But when the price is really good, you get what you get and you don’t get upset.
I prefer that model to one where you pay more for sorting services.

I like this method too.
The secondary market will get things sorted out.

The only reason I would be against sorting would be: it would make getting any chips more difficult.
Here's why I think that:

Jim already said that this was a small batch (compared to his normal hauls).
Then you dived that small haul by denominations.
Then your sort the denomination, dividing the chips even more.
Then multiply that by the amount of interest....Equals: basically no chance to get any racks of chips during the sale.

I can understand this. I guess I’m thinking differently stamped chips are different than having some GO chips mixed in. But the point of costs maybe increasing due to sorting is valid, I suppose. Just something worth paying a little for, imho.

It looks to me from the photos that have been posted so far like the $25s might be quickly edge-sorted just by color/condition. It looks like there are two very obviously distinct grades, and I suspect those correlate closely to the two types of stamps.

Throw them in racks and just pull them in batches. A test rack would tell the success rate—doesn’t have to be perfect, but that would be a service worth paying for IMHO.
