Hello from the Bay Area (1 Viewer)

First of all, wow! I had no idea such an community of casino chip aficionados existed. I've always loved the look, feel and sound of chips and consider myself more of an admirer than a collector... but you all may change my mind. Whether they are custom made or come from a gaming room, every chip tells a story and I think that's pretty cool.

Right now I'm in information collecting mode - trying to learn what the words mean (I won't ask who TINA is) and the state of the hobby. If there are any especially helpful threads, let me know, otherwise I'll keep searching/browsing.

As for my own journey, I've only ever bought one set of chips (photo below). This must have been 20 years ago when buying from sketchy internet vendors was even more sketchy. I don't know much about them, but like how they are simple and clean. Sadly I'm missing one black and one green. Maybe they'll turn up in a sofa cushion.

This must have been 20 years ago when buying from sketchy internet vendors was even more sketchy. I don't know much about them, but like how they are simple and clean.

They're "Roman Mold" chips made by ASM or CPC. They are fantastic. There are a small group of people that have been able to make beautiful sets with them, especially more recently with members like @ekricket and @Josh Kifer doing very high quality hot-stamp work on them. Run a search under that mold term I used and you should be able to find out a good deal of information on them (custom chips/sets, pricing, variations, etc). The OG Rounders chips I believe were on this mold as well (unless they were on Flower Mold but I don't think so IIRC).

Some folks really like these chips because they are the same chip used in the movie Rounders in the Teddy KGB game, minus the inlays with the bear.

You have blanks so they can be modified to accept a custom label or a metal foil stamp.

These chips aren't being made anymore because the mold cups used in the manufacturing process are worn out, and there's no plans to replace them.

Wow, beautiful examples. The purple $500s are especially striking.

I'm not looking to trade/sell any away at this point, but who knows if I get bitten by the bug and need to make room, I'll certainly let you know. Best of luck on the search (and I can see how the thrill of the hunt works on these older chips)!

Casino Royale is obviously the one that comes to mind in the gambling setting, but my favorite was always the scene from Moonraker at M's club "Blades." This is when 007 discovers Hugo Drax cheats at bridge. (literally just did a search for Blades Poker Chip and of course there's an entry here, you guys have outdone yourselves).

The chapter "Dinner at Blades" made me fall in love with smoked salmon with ice cold vodka (no black pepper, tho!). Fleming paints such a marvelous picture and gives a glimpse into the 007 lifestyle.

Your Blades sets are amazing and the "bloody" chip is freaking brilliant!
