Home Cash Game 6-10 Players (2 Viewers)

I had someone say you should do 20$ buy in max but have 3 BI so ultimately people may want to spend 40$ or 60$ or 80$

we start our initial buy in at $20 - $40 and issue out 12 x 25c / 12 x $1 / rest in fives. reloads are done in ones and fives. change is bought from other players. never had any issues with slowing down play to make change and usually get 6-8 players. no more than $300 on the table

**players normally rebuy 2-3xs in a night.*

You need to nail down what stakes you want to play before we can give good advice on a breakdown. Cash is a different animal than a tournament, and will take some getting used to by you and your players. I personally prefer a cash game as it's more flexible, easier to host, and my preferred style of poker.

I think most people would say that you should buy in to a cash game for at least 100 big blinds. Most poker rooms aren't going to let you buy in for more than 150-200 big blinds or less than 20-50 big blinds.

So if you guys want to play 25c/25c your min/max buy would be something like $10-$50. If you want to play 25c/50c it's going to be something like $25-$100. Remember this is PER BUY IN, of which there might be 2-3x for any given number if players.

IMO in a cash game you should be comfortable buying at least 2-3 times if you bust. Talk to your friends or make an educated guess as to if they would feel comfortable risking $50-$75 each game (25c/25c) or $100-$150 each game (25c/50c).

The tendencies of your players also makes a difference. Large preflop bets, bets that scale with the size of the pot or not, passive vs aggressive players, etc. Some smaller stakes games might play bigger than the next highest stake.

This all great advice! Also so I went to buy my chips and I ordered .25/1/5 of the mint chips and they were out of the .25 cent mint chips so he upgraded me to the Milano’s for the same price so I got Milano .25 cent chips and mint 5$ and 1$ id say that’s a win huh?

To be honest,
For me personally that would be a no no
The milanos are lighter than the Mint chips. I like both but they are not good for mixing. I would get all Milano if that is an option.

Couldn’t afford all Milano chips which is why I got the Mint chips and he said he’d upgrade .25 chip to Milano’s I said no problem. They might be lighter but with an amateur cash game with my buddies it will do for the moment until I’m able to upgrade all my chips and get some paulsons later on down the road.

Then you are good to go! Enjoy your chips man! may the bring you luck and money

I appreciate the input! I wish I could’ve got all Milano’s. It will have to due for now.

Save up, get those Milano’s asap. Different chip catagories would tilt me to no end.

The Milano’s can be had for around $.35/chip. So if youre only looking for 200 $1’s and 200 $5’s, it’s only $140 total to add on. Plus, often folks will sell them in the classifieds. You could put out a WTB ad too?
