Horseshoe Casino - Cleveland Chips (5 Viewers)

I've not dug through my bag of $5s yet but I did look it over and I'd say probably 5%. I'll pull them out tomorrow morning, count a sample of 200 or so and report back.
Well that surprised me a bit. I filled two racks and came away with 28 specials for 14%. Then I turned the bag upside-down and filled two racks from that side and came away with 8 or 4%. I highly doubt Jim did any kind of sorting but I wonder if maybe for some reason they were somewhat sorted at the casino and so when bunches are grabbed to fill orders you could be high or low. Doesn't matter to me either way but I know some folks are hoping for one or the other.

On the plus side during my sampling I came across some chips with really crisp edges that still have chalk on them.

Hoping more on the 4%.

I think a small % mixed in is cool. Adds to the experience of playing with them. More like at an actual casino. Hard Rock Vegas has a ton of special chips. I think it's fun to look through what you have there when you're not in a hand.

Those primary $500's are amazing! They all came out great. Are you happy with how they turned out, Bill?

How are the chips fitting in racks?

Are they all 20 per barrel or do they have some smaller guys like the PAD $5s which fit 21 per barrel unless you use a spacer?

21 pet barrel unfortunately
Quick threadjack:
Here's what I did with worn roulettes that are now my tournament chips. I trimmed one of those cardboard poker chips, taped it with 2-sided carpet tape to the inside edge of each barrel. Voila! Now 20 chips are a snug fit in each barrel.
I wrapped the rack with blue painters tape to differentiate between my cash set racks, and the tape also covers the look of the carpet tape on the outer edge of the rack.

Edited: I used 2-sided carpet tape not E6000 glue that I originally posted.

My cheap no name racks are fitting 21+ but the ASM/CPC racks I got from Key West fit 20 and maybe half another chip. Definitely not enough to cause rocking problems. Just enough IMO to make it easy to pull a barrel out in whole or part.

I don't have pictures handy, but I used 1.5" felt circles (with adhesive backs), cut in half, to do something similar with some old generic racks I had that were a bit too large for my worn chips.

Something like these would probably do the trick

Great idea @bentax1978 !

I know I'm being selfish by continually bringing this up, but I do hope I can buy some of these from Jim and at not too much higher a price than offered in the pre-sale. Such a rookie mistake. Even the $1s are looking fantastic once cleaned!!!

I thought I was ok with not having a Horseshoe tournament set, but then I saw those primary $500s all cleaned up...

I know there's been a lot of drooling over the secondaries - but I love these primaries. Really strong, clean design. The 500s are showstoppers, but those 25s are lush as well.

And now I know roughly how my set's gonna look... when they finally get sent... and get across the Atlantic... and clear customs...

Primaries rock! !!

All these pics show chips in better condition than I expected.

That $500 primary would make one of the prettiest hotstamps ever.

Waiting impatiently for my chips.

I've gotta say this and I know it may not be a popular opinion around here...

I just don't get the infatuation with hot stamps and probably never will (specifically solid hot stamps)

There, I said it...

I initially had this view when I started collecting. But I came around. One of the main attractions of a hotstamped chip is that the whole surface is the chip material, not a laminated inlay. Also, it has an old school look which many of us value. Third, and this relates back to the first point, hotstamps allow you see much more of the color and design of the chip, which is especially noticeable with certain spot patterns. Finally, it is the feel of the chip that is different.

Yup. I though hotstanps were pretty lame, until I got to hold a handful of TRK Hotstamps. And then I begrudgingly said to myself, uh, these are awesome.

Re-labled prime $500s would make great fracs.
