Question for the experienced buyers: If you were to buy these chips for a $5/$10 cash game with 2K buy-in, how many chips would you buy and what denominations? I am looking at the secondary sets and can't figure out if that's possible to do.

for example a set such as:

220 $5
220 $25
200 $100
100 $500
40 $1000
If you're playing $2,000 cash buy in, and already looking at spending $3-$4/chip, get custom CPC chips. Control the supply for security. Otherwise anyone could pick up one or two $100 or $500 chips on eBay and bring them to your game.

I read it as "I play a 5¢/10¢ cash game with a $20 buy-in," but the poster wanted to sound balla. Either way, the breakdown would be the same, and would depend on number of players and looseness of the game.

this is a vendor sale thread and you are recommending a different vendor in said thread. Advice probably better given in a PM.

Thank you. very helpful.

Appreciate the PM. And you're correct.

The $25 chip is the main workhorse so I would want more than 20 per player. I would want more like 60 minimum per player.

Having 5 different chips in every players stack can get confusing/annoying.

I was concerned about him exposing himself to a big cash liability/security hole. If he doesn't have to cover face value per chip, then I retract my suggestion.

For what he is contemplating, I'd say five of the heads up sets with the uncirculated $5s, plus a barrel of $500s, would be plenty. That's a total bank of $26k, more than enough for 10 players at $2k starting stacks of $5 x 20, $25 x 20, $100 x 9, $500 x 1. Maybe add a barrel of $25s for chipping up.

Disagree on the numbers. I don't think that many chips is a good idea for a single table home game. I suggest no more than one barrel per player per denomination, plus the ability to chip up once or twice.

With the game playing loose, the redbirds will likely only be used as blinds. 10-15 per player, A full barrel per if you just love the chip.
I suspect quarters will be tossed about quite a bit in betting, perhaps sharing workhorse duties with the hundos, so that's where the bulk of the chips need to be. $500s could see some action, and keep big bets from being count-fests, but you're talking a $2000 buy-in. That's a quarter of your stack. In a loose game, 1/4 stack is just a burp away from an all-in jam, so you probably won't need $500s until you get a rebuy on the table.

Since I'm not a fan of making change, I'd maybe give a single $500 in the starting stack, and reserve some $25s and hundos to have in ready-to-roll rebuy stacks.

That said, if you're actually playing in a loose $5/$10 $2000 cash game, I'd buy up an insane amount of chips in this sale. Your income is crazy expendable. Seriously, you shouldn't consider anything less than a 2000 chip set and cater to your groups whims.

I don't think you will find too many people agreeing with this idea around here. With only 1 stack of your workhorse chip means having to make change with another player after every hand for the loser. Most people like to have lots of chips in front of them.

Have you been to a casino and seen the biggest cash game going? Pretty much every player there will have 2 racks of chips or more in front of them.

People like to have their home games feel like a casino.

Opportunity to dream for a moment :)

If I hosted a 5/10 game... hmmm

1000 Chip Set:
200 - $5
400 - $25
500 - $100
Just over $60k bank

$1000 buyin:
1 barrel of $5's per player
1 barrel of $25's per player
5 $100 chips
Rebuys would be 1 barrel of $25's and 5 $100's until $25's are depleted

$2000 buyin:
1 barrel of $5's per player
2 barrels of $25's per player
9 $100 chips
Rebuys would be in $100 chips, an even barrel for each $2000 buyin

At the risk of making false assumptions about someone's disposable income & personal finance decisions, I'd still assume the same. By a boss set and roll deep n' proper.

Heh...can't like enough. Great pic/quote!

But we are helping Todd sell a $5/10 cash game set! It may be the single largest set he ends up selling! It is all marketing :D(y)

THIS!!! I am really trying to figure out if I can put a good set of Todd's chips together for my game!!!

So, I may have to scrap the $500s and the dirty/yucky $1000s, add to the $100s and use plaques for most rebuy/add-ons. and If I go with:

220 $5 @ $0.69 = $152
220 $25 @ $2.49 = $548
320 $100 @ $3.49 = $1,117

$1,817 for 640 chips ($2.39/chip)

If you were willing to go secondary for everything:

I would suggest FIVE of the $229 100 low stakes heads up sets.. ($229 x 5 = $1145)

That gives you 200 uncirculated $5's, 200 secondary $25's, and 100 $100's.

Then you can add on individually 200 $100's ($698) and 200 $25's ($498) for another $1196.

Total set would be

200 $5
400 $25
300 $100
($41k bank)

For a total cost of $2341 for all brand new chips :)

Just a reminder that you can only buy 200 $100 chips max, so you'll have to contract another member to buy them for you, buy them as part of a combo, or purchase them in the secondary marketplace after :)

the limit is only on the Individual chips. If you buy 5 heads up sets totaling 100 - $100s you can still buy 200 - $100s individually! :)

what your in france?
The sale date is 1/1/17
and time is 3PM Eastern Time Zone!

The sale will start 3pm eastern time zone. It will be late evening in France so depending on how many hours you are ahead of EST that is when it will start for you. How many hours are you ahead of EST?

So the secondary 25K's are only available singly in the full sample sets?
Will they be offered individually at a later date?

There is a small chance that a small amount (less then 100) will be offered later. What little I have left after the sample sale might be for my personal set. Which is not very many. :(
