Horseshoe Southern Indiana Pr0n thread! (1 Viewer)

Just curious, why so many chips? are people organizing huge tournament? less than 300 chips are required to run a 10 people game... I see thousands of chips... sorry to ask I'm noob and jealous :p I emotionally understand but rationally don't. Is there a rational reason?

I feel like this post will end up deleted once I receive the hate :p

Don't delete your post. Trimming down your set to meet your actual needs for the games you play in is a valid avenue for building sets. A lot of people here ended up with huge sets from this sale due to having to buy certain amounts to be able to purchase the more coveted denominations in the quantity they needed. If you look at the Classifieds, there are already people selling off their excess chips.

Here is a good thread on figuring out optimal cash set sizes based on your buy-in amount:

Here is a similar thread, but for tournaments (although you can simply ask what breakdown you need and veterans here will help):

That being said, some people do hoard or collect way more than they will ever need or even scratch the surface of using to an obnoxious extent, but that is their prerogative and I will not be the one to tell people how to go about this crazy hobby.

Always ask questions!

Really digging these. One of my favorite .25/.50 chip combos.

P.s. Please excuse the shuffling dust.

There was % minimums to purchase certain quantities of each denomination

This. I wasnt sure if it was going to work, but after the first hour I had the additional chips I wanted in my cart and the moment the clock hit 3PM EST, I checked out immediately and it went through. Also, it seems that people were going gaga over the primary frac and not the secondary (not sure why).

I feel so dumb for not trying for another rack of sec fracs after the first hour!

Can these be relabelled without murdering?

Is one method preferred?

They can be overlabeled. I’ve done that with Jacks, Cancuns, HS Clevelands, and more.

Some purists think that overlabeling is massively inferior to murder. But with high-quality @Gear labels, I’ve been very pleased with overlabels. There are lots of examples with Jacks (both murdered and overlabeled) here, and I think this is a decent analogue for what people could do with HSIs:

Overlabels also preserve the opportunity to remove them and return the chips to their original state. (I hear some grousing about laminates peeling up when removing overlabels, and I’m sure that happens occasionally... But I took about 600 labels off some Terribles last winter, and I don’t think I lost more than one.)

Go ahead, fight me on this! ;^)

Thoughts:

* These are all as nice or even nicer than expected. Though I had the benefit of sample set to preview everything, it’s really quite different seeing them in barrels/racks.

* The $5Ses are really great, and a surprise. I promised these and the $1As to others, and am honoring those pledges... But, oh.

* The $25Ses pop even more than expected. Gonna be sweet in a mixed RHC set.

* The brown of the secondary $100s is a bit blah, but I suspect will benefit from light oiling. Gonna make this a $2 chip.

* The darker purple secondary 500s were an unforced data entry error by me... I actually meant to get primaries. Would trade the 80 secs for a rack of prims if that is fair.

* Unlike most, I much preferred the 43mm Butterscotch 1KSes to the Pumpkin primaries. I think these will age well and mix into other 43mm sets very nicely.
Those 5s look much better in these pictures. It’s a great looking set.

I need to improve my murder game.

These are fine. Unless you're using an auger, you will not see the little scratches and dings in the recess face after you put on a brand new laminated sticker!

And besides, it does take time to get the murder game down, and by that I mean efficiently done.

This is genius. I immediately considered if 9 racks were available to make into a $3 chip for a limit set...

The thought of removing and applying 1800 labels quickly dispersed that thought, but it was an interesting project while it lasted.

Not all of my chips but put a little oil on some. I know most seem to love the secondary $5 and $25 but these Primaries are beauties.
