I had to take this photo, because I might be the only person on the planet who can right now, so it is my duty.

What could have been, if only all of these were THC!

So, where'd the THC come from? What's the deal?
Many years ago, the casino had about 300 of these THC quarters on the floor with the rest of the casino, including more quarters, being ceramics. It did not take long for collectors to get ALL of them.

They are the only THC chips this casino ever had.

Knowledge like this is fantastic and why PCF rocks. I know you live in Indiana, so that's most likely how you have intimate knowledge of this (and how you have that bad ass THC frac) ... How did you find out they only had like 300? Did you chat up a pit boss or cashier?

If this belongs in the Classifieds, LMK and I'll delete this or whatever needs to be done...If anyone DID NOT get a sample set and really wanted one, I've seen what I wanted to see with the set that arrived today. Please, only someone who did not already get a set. PM me and sell it for what I paid.
**SET IS GONE.

PM sent

Got 'em! And they're beautiful! :wow:

I feel mixing primary and secondary are not going to be a huge problem (except for the worn factor on the primaries). If Jim seperates mints for a bump up then no worries!

I never went to the casino but @BGinGA did. He harvested almost two racks. 300 is just a guess, but without official numbers from the casino we won’t know.

These chips are simply SUCH AN ODDITY. Why ordered? Why so few? Why THC?

If you somehow haven't already found someone, lemme know. Although I'm grabbing to keep for display, nothing to do with seeing them before the chip sale (if that matters and you want to get it to someone that needs it for the sale).

I’m thinking on a little horseshoe mixed set

I did visit/harvest on several occasions, but the majority of my THC quarters were gathered by @courage over many trips.

I never once saw a RHC mold quarter in play there -- I don't think those chips ever left the cage. I believe that the THC chips were purchased earlier, sometime between the opening ceramic and later RHC chip orders.

I'd like to get 17 chips just to fill out my rack, even if RHC. But won't be paying hijack prices unless they're THCs.

I can't believe there weren't ANY of those THC quarters burred in those barrels somewhere.

My unsolicited opinions on the HSI sample sets:

General
— There’s been discussion about the strange small inlays on some of these chips, abnormal for RHCs.

The big thing to jump out at me is that some of these actually have a raised ridge around the small inlay, making overlabeling trickier. The inlay is slightly more inset. On these, you can feel the ridge and also a textural transition from dry clay to smooth inlay.

But others seem to have a lamination which extends from the outer RHC rim over the (faux?) inlay. The interior clay ring and the inlay are both smooth and at the same level. So these could potentially be overlabeled to look like a “normal” RHC, workout any bumps appearing from underneath.

The 25c primary and both $2.50 types seem to have double ridges/rims; the $1 primary, $1 “tertiary” and the other secondaries excluding the snapper appear flat and overlabel-able.

All other denoms from $25-25K appear to be normal RHCs/IHCs.

This would not have been apparent to me just from seeing photos. It would be good to find out if others are noticing the same on their samples—whether this is a consistent feature of each denom.

Specific denom notes:

25c:
The primary seems more standard, and is a lot more cheerful. But I don’t much care for the blob-like white spots, and prefer the subtlety of the secondary, with the grey edgespots almost disappearing into the Ice Blue background. Looks almost like a solid, but isn’t.

$1: The primary is unfortunate—shitstain on TP comes to mind. I like the off-white secondary best, as it is unusual; followed by the lavender white tertiary.

$2.50: Prefer the secondary. Like the 25c primary, the primary snapper’s broad white spots look a little clumsy to me. Also these both appear to have the inlay/ridge issue.

$5s: Both seem serviceable. I prefer the punchier, less conventional secondary.

$25: The primary is meh at best. The secondary is a knockout. I never really liked Indian Blue as a color, but with these contrasting edge spots it looks terrific.

$100s: The black primary is solid and attractive, if unsurprising. The brown secondary once again is a departure from convention and thus more attractive to me as a collector.

$500s: These are both really nice. The primary has more of a wow factory, the secondary more subtle but handsome. Which I’d choose would depend largely on what other chips I was trying to pair them with.

1Ks: Unlike most, from what I’ve read so far, I much prefer the secondary butterscotch. The primary looks too much like the orange Royals for my taste.

5K: The silver primary is a big winner. If I could get enough, I might overlabel them and use them in place of the Detroit 5K secondaries in my Jack tourney set. One wildcard is not knowing how much use this denom got in the casino. The sample which I got was pretty clean, though not mint. The secondary 5K is good goofy fun, but not to my taste.

25K: Both of these are knockouts. The metallic gold primary is probably gonna be the bigger hit, but the richer-hued secondary is pretty cool as well... It would blend in nicely with Sunset Beaches.

Ok maybe I'm alone in this but the all-star of this bunch is the metallic silver primary 5k. They are incredible.
