Hot Dog Roller Pron (2 Viewers)

I'm not currently. Nathan's Famous on room temperature Long's Potato Rolls are amazing already. I think a toasted bun would elevate it a bit, but not sure how much a warm bun would add. But I'm newer to this arena.
No bun warmer. Just take 'em off the Olde Midway and eat.
Yeah I think this is the direction I'm gonna go. If my players complain about buns not being warm, I'll tell them they can buy a warmer On a real note, my players are always appreciative of upgrades, so I know they'll be excited about this.
Both options are a home run! Your crew will love it!
Awesome! Thank you!

Right. A buttered, toasted roll elevates the hot dog to delicacy status. A warm bun is kinda pleasant, kinda mushy and a total waste of effort.

Question for all you hotdog aficionados:
I'm getting ready to purchase a roller for our home games and wondering how you guys are warming up the buns. I'm deciding between the Olde Midway Pro18 or this roller I found on Amazon with a bun warming drawer (the size of it is probably overkill for my current game). What do you all think?

Amazon - PartyHut 30 Hot Dog Wamer Roller Grill Cooker Commercial Machine

If you do go Olde Midway PRO18, check out eBay. I just peaked and it does look like prices are up, but likely they are up everywhere. :/ Good luck though! It does bring some good food to the table, and it's very easy. I've totally neglected the dogs on the roller, but they always seem to just be good.

Trying out taquitos and egg rolls tonight…

They didn’t go well for me
We need reviews

They worked *ok* I guess. Both got warm, rolled fine and we’re definitely eatable. But neither of them got crisp enough to be enjoyable. The egg rolls were chewey and the taquitos were kind soggy like a microwaved burrito. Maybe if you really blasted the temp up you might get better results.

But the telling point came when I had to reload the roller. “Should I put on some more taquitos or just dogs?” Unanimous reply of “Dogs!”

So… fun enough to try once but won’t do it again.

Taquitos and eggrolls work better if you microwave them first then use the roller to crisp them and keep them warm. The same goes for corn dogs, although they tend to jump off the roller.

In my experience, these rollers that most of us use, seem to work best on a setting around 2 (or at least mine does.) So yeah, I imagine blasting up the heat could make a difference, and yeah, I'd definitely be reluctant to do so, knowing what that would do to dogs. But I appreciate the feedback; I've often thought about trying those sort of things.

Exactly this. If I had to do it again I’d go all taquitos and crank the heat. (or at least put em all on the back zone)

But honestly… dogs are way better imho.

Both the taquitos and egg rolls tasted like the crappy frozen processed factory food that they are. A ‘fresh’ roller dog with all the fixins is a exquisite delicacy and culinary treat.

It really is! I've been creeping up on the heat a lot on my dogs. I think I just like overcooked dogs. This last round I did, man, they came out great! My "fixins" list is pretty limited, but the dog itself and the buns, are of utmost importance. Also I abuse the heck out of them now, and they take it just fine. I'm slow on moving them to the warmer rollers in the back. They stand up well just getting roasted for longer on the hot rollers in front.

It's actually a great way to cut down on carbs a bit.
Last year, I set out taco fixings for Cinco de Mayo as a variation for the typical hot dog toppings. Flour tortillas, salsa, cheese sauce, yadda yadda.

Since then we've been exclusively using small street taco flour tortillas instead or regular buns. They are preferred by every single guy in my crew.

So yah... I guess now we're doing hot dog tacos instead of hot dog sandwiches. ;)

I eat regularly at an establishment that sells a double hot dog. Two dogs on the same bun to make a delicious sandwich. It's actually a great way to cut down on carbs a bit.
So you’re telling me I should get on the double hot dog diet? YES!!

I am not really feeling the hot dog roller love? In Chicago...where hot dogs are one of the kings of fast food I am not aware of any places that use them except for gas stations and movie theaters. All of our dogs are either boiled, steamed, chargrilled, or rarely grilled on a flattop (polish sausage gets this treatment more often).

Who can tell me where these were made?

Gene and Jude's! So good. First time there my buddies tricked me into asking for ketchup (for my fries, to be fair) though.

haha your friends are dicks...asking for ketchup there will get your ass kicked out... and good call definitely G&Js dogs and they are the best though a lot of "cool" people around Chicagoland love to hate them. I guess when you are the best you got to expect you will have some vocal enemies.

just so you are aware

God Bless Texas
