How do you discreetly take notes at the table? (1 Viewer)

if on an Apple device definitely just use the Notes app and also from the app store download and install the Poker HH Keyboard (Poker hand history keyboard) app. It'll add a different keyboard for a quick way to write poker short hand notes without switching the keyboard a million times.

I was thinking about something like this before seeing your post, but for Android since I use Keep for my session notes.

Nothing like this currently exists in the Play Store, so I'm going to pop open Android Studio over the weekend and see if I can whip a prototype together.

your notes for me are "bets every hand with nothing, bets even more with something, calls everything. falls asleep before, during and after first break."

At least you don’t fall asleep and miss the rest of the tourney.....

i missed the complete tourney last night, paid for it and didn't play a hand. thats high level donkkkkey

Ouch. I think it was over the weekend for me when I fell asleep at first break and missed the rest...got 5th

i thought i was the only one who could fall asleep sitting playing poker. I have always been able to sleep instantly anywhere anytime.

old thread ... but did you made this HH keyboard for Android ? This would be the perfect solution for taking live notes.

[EDIT] I found Poker Hand History Keyboard. Just what I needed.

Patrik Antonious did it with a voice recorder, for that book where he wrote about every hand in the tournament.

I mean, if all you need is raw notes, you could just make them in an open email or text message draft. Send it to yourself now and then and start a new one as needed.

No, it went into the bin of "things I'll do someday" and never came out...

But for $1.50, I may just try the one you found. I like the idea of a custom keyboard much better than trying to memorize or create a shorthand.

Yes. I tried it and it is waaaay quicker than the apps I could test. Just straightforward.

Downside you can't export or Replay the hand but I do not need this feature

I play a casual game and would get some bad looks if I took out a pad of paper and started writing during a game. Does anyone use an app to take notes? Is there one you recommend? I have an apple if that matters.
I would honestly go out of my way to take notes on pad and paper just to spin people up if it bothers them. But then again, I'm usually the host and was in the Navy where we spend a lifetime trying to poke and prod at the things that piss people off. :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness, I wouldn't care if any of my players took notes. What you can do is take notes, and then if anybody calls you out on it, just say, "sorry, but you have a bad tell that's worth writing down."

I grabbed it too.

It's trivial to switch between this and gboard on my Pixel, and it just spits out plaintext notes to whatever app you're using. I gave it a test drive, and I plan to try logging some hands in the home game tomorrow night.

my notes generally are in my head about how many beers//how much wine a person has had.

Or who talks about "Bad beats" the most. How they describe the hand is equally important. Not so much what type of hands are being played.

Aggro players are generally easy to spot too.
