Cash Game How many chips per denomination I need? (1 Viewer)

planning a cpc cash game set for 25/50, but dont want to spand too much ;)
Lots of good advice here, as you can tell each game is different. We play dealer choice, dealer ante cash games. We found having the dealer put in the ante is far better then each player. You don't need as many quarters on the table and we never have to ask who didn't ante. It is a social game and people get to talking and drinking and they tend to forget if they did or didn't.

Anyways, onto your question. If you want to keep the number of chips down, the following breakdown works for my group.

$40 buy-in - 12x12x5 (25¢, $1, $5)
$100 buy-in - 12x12x9x2 (25¢, $1, $5, $20)

So just looking at the $100 buy-in, based 10 players:

120 - 25¢
120 - $1
90 - $5
20 - $20
------------
350 chips with no rebuys, this would be the bare minimum and of course I would round those number up to 125,125,100,25 just to make it an even 400 and handle any lost or broken chips.

Now how many rebuys? Assuming rebuys would be a combination of $5 and $20 maybe 4-$5 and 4 $20 and if you want to handle 10-$100 rebuys that is another 80 chips so I would round it to 500 total.

125- 25¢
125- $1
150- $5
100- $20

Of course you could always add a $100 dollar chip if your game plays that big, mine doesn't. then you could have 80-$20 chips and 20-$100 chips.

125- 25¢
125- $1
150- $5
80- $20
20- $100

for a 10 player .25/.50 NLHE cash game id start with:

120 quarters
170 1s (180 to keep it pretty)
160 5s
60 25s

for a 10 player $100 max game that gives you starting stacks of 12/17/16 with 15 rebuys in $25 chips.

i would then plan for an occasional .50/1 or 1/1 game and expand from there.

buy 3 extra of each denomination to replace lost or damaged chips.

If you're doing customs, Woody's and bigfruits' breakdowns look good to me - as well as several previous ones in the thread.

You might be able to get by with 400-odd chips in four denominations, but with CPC, I'd also lean towards doing 500 chips, because then you'd be able to do five chip styles in your set - allowing you a few hundos. Even if you only get a few, they go a LONG way in expanding your bank in case of a really big-playing night, and they're also so, so, cool. And when doing customs, you definitely want to buy a few extras to replace lost/damaged... you CANNOT replace them, otherwise.

Have fun!

I spread $0.25/$0.50 once a month. Here is what I do (and it is a little excessive).

200 x $0.25
200 x $1
300 x $5
200 x $20 (or 60 x $25 since Outpost $25s are hard to come by but my players generally prefer $25 chips)
100 x $100 (just in case, but mostly for the $1/$1 and $1/$2 nights)

Starting stacks are 20 x $0.25, 20 x $1 ($25 in value) plus $5s to fill out the buy in.

I have another thousand+ chips in the set just in case 30 people show up one night . . . .

I've used the same starting stacks for a while, but found there were too many 0.25s on the table (my game plays bigger than 0.25.0.50) so went down to
12 x 0.25 + 22 x $1.00 + the rest in $5s recently

My $0.25 chips are Outpost quarters. You just can't have too many of those rose colored beauties on the table. Easily my favorite fractional and one of my favorite chips.

Everyone loves a mountain of chips until the end of the night when we have to count them and put them up -=- DrStrange

You mean these?

Or these?

I have both, and occasionally mix them. But those gray spots really speak to me.....

...and that is why you need two racks of quarters...:)

I have only the San Ramon quarters, and paid the most I ever did for a rack of chips to get 400 of them. I didn't know Pacheco quarters were ever available in rack quantities - maybe that was a good thing.

Thanks guys for your help so far.

Most players in my cash game will buy in between 50 - 100 BB (even 200 BB is max). So maybe I need a bit less chips than suggested.
