How many NHL fans do we have here? (1 Viewer)

According to the Associated Press, the guy who hit them, who has been identified as 43-year-old Sean Higgins, was drunk and attempted to pass two vehicles on the right when he struck the Gaudreau brothers from behind; they died at the scene.

He's been charged with two counts of death by auto, reckless driving, possession of an open container, and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Yep, totally infuriating. Passing on the right, going too fast, all fucked up.

My daughter started a job with the Hurricanes this week, her first job out of college. She's going to get a lot of tickets and I'm going to use most of them. :p

Tonight's preseason vs defending champs. Canes won 8-2. I know it's just preseason.

Early days, but will this be Poolparty's redemption season? From the few clips I've seen, he seems much more comfortable on the ice now and not rushing plays anymore.

We fucking blow, our whole organization is big pile of steaming monkey shit.

I know he's a god up there for his past achievements or whatever, but as a Devils fan that had to watch not only his team on the ice, but him in the press for the past few seasons, I cackled when the news broke that they had brought back Lindy.

As a life-long Oilers fan, I've been there, man. Hell, we're still suffering in many respects from the decade of incompetence.

But seriously though, how did anyone think Kevyn Adams was remotely qualified to be an NHL GM? And also, how the hell does he still have a job?

I'm gonna eat some meatloaf and respond properly to this. I'll be back.

Lindy is definitely not the problem. Bowman in the 90s couldn't come in here and get results out of this team. The problems go way beyond coaching. Yeah, hiring Lindy looks bad and just adds to the clown show this franchise has become. It has that air of appeasing the fans. I think it was 60% that reason, 30% for Adams to save his job, 10 % he's the only person who would take the fucking job. The thing is, this team needed a tougher coach and somebody to hold players accountable, which he has done for the most part. The last coach never benched anybody and seemed like a buddy coach.

Yeah, people love Lindy in this city, my fondest memories with this team he was the coach. Sorry it didn't work out for you guys. The worst part is the stench of this franchise is going to stain Lindy's reputation. I don't think he knew what he was getting into. For his sake I actually hope he just quits.

The problems start at the top, the owner, and trickles down. Adams was not qualified and the sentiment amongst fans was that the owner promoted him because he was already in the organization for years and they didn't have to do an exhaustive search. He was also cheaper. This is exactly how this team operates and has operated for years. Hiring cheaper, inexperienced guys to cut costs. Lindy came here and we filled out his coaching staff with guys who were already here, instead of letting Lindy bring in his own guys. Mickey Mouse shit. Adams still has a job because he will and has carried water across the desert for this owner.

Our drafting has been terrible. We sign guys too early because we're so scared they're gonna want to leave. Now we're stuck with a bunch of mentally fragile players who are making a ton. There's no end in sight. Firing the GM is the logical answer, he built this mess. Fans have been clamoring for the GM to make moves to help bolster this team before this recent 11 game losing streak. Then, before yesterday's game, the owner flew to Montreal to meet the team and tell them he has the utmost confidence in the team and the GM. Completely fucking tone deaf.

Oh, I would never suggest that Lindy is your main or solitary problem. You have plenty of those. But he sure as shit isn’t your solution lol.

The optics of his hire were just so bizarre. I’m also a fan of a team that somewhat recently brought back a legendary coach (Rutgers football and Greg Schiano… he’s not an actual legend, but he’s a legend to us within our community). And I don’t get the feeling that people in Buffalo were literally kicking and screaming and signing petitions to bring Lindy back to Buffalo the way Rutgers fans were with Schiano. It just came across as a very “unserious” move.

And I’m far from a hockey X’s and O’s expert, but I watch the game enough to know what I’m looking at. The brands of hockey the Devils left behind with Lindy and have now progressed to playing under Keefe are astronomically different.

I’ll always be grateful to him for our 2022-2023 season when we had 112 points seemingly out of nowhere and beat the Rangers in a playoff series, but…. Woof is all I can say about his present situation
