How to pay my US friends (1 Viewer)

Hey all,

I'm trying to find the best way, as a Canadian, to pay people in the states using PayPal. I have a US credit card and a cross-border account. From what I can see PayPal won't let you add a US account unless you can prove you live in the US... Which I don't.

How do my fellow Canadians pay Americans? Do you just bite the bullet and pay from your Canadian account? It just hurts cause I work for a bank and get a better rate when exchanging lol

I recommend keeping as much funds as possible in USD so you can buy and sell without converting.

CIBC offers a US Account. You can register with them and deposit any physical USD you have with them.

You can then sign up for the cross border USD account and instantly transfer the funds to the cross border CIBC account.

The cross border USD account can then be linked DIRECTALLY to your PayPal. Then you're free to send your US Dollars to others as you see fit. There's no conversion fee as you are never at any point using Canadian dollars. You can even withdraw US Dollars without conversion if you ever sell your chips.

The first acc takes 1 hr to set up, the cross border takes 1 to 2 days to set up. The PayPal linking takes 1 to 2 business days to set up.

Ahhh it's funny you say CIBC because that's who I work for lol.... I only just setup my cross border account today so ya it'll be a little while yet until I get a physical card or online access.
