The movement could be from other factors, including dirt, chip colors, molds, chip batch, exposure to heat, etc. Labels that do not touch will not make it more slippery.
Curious to the ASMs that you have that have a label but no recess. I've never seen one that was level across the chip. Pics would be informative.
