I have an interesting idea for a “buy your starting stack” tourney with those. Probably a dumb idea, but I’m thinking about trying it.
What, like people can buy in for whatever they want, like a cash game? I think that’s a great idea - let people buy in for the full amount, or short stack it, or anywhere in between. As long as there’s no rebuys or Addons, it sounds great to me.

Yeah, I was thinking of a capped tourney where you can buy-in at whatever amount you want, but cap it off at like $100 and play it out. Everything else runs standard.

I think it gets interesting cause you can cater to players who want to play at any amount, but I also see where it could be a disadvantage to people who choose to buy in short. That being said, it’s a choice and it suits a wide range of people wanting to risk different amounts of money.

I really enjoy Tunas $100 cash buy in with no time limits on blind increments, honestly if you want to run a buy in for what you want... I would still run it with the every 2 players out the blinds double structure start $.50/$1. Can always try it with a cash set, but this micro tourney is perfectly set up for it!!

Definitely no rebuys or add-ons. Could be interesting if you did bounties.

Edit: and I think you’d have to do minimums. I don’t think it would be ideal to let anyone buy in under $20.

I think that's an awesome idea honestly. Especially with no rebuys that limits people tanking

I see on the chip guide you added pics of secondary striped roulettes (2B). Any chance you have these and plan on selling them? The gold with orange spots looks amazing.

In any given game, sure. In the long run? it might be an advantage. I can't tell you how many tournaments that I've walked out after the second break with half a starting stack and have come back to cash. Short stack tournament play is pretty easy. I'd love to try entering every tournament for half price with a half stack and see how it goes.

I think strategy like this would definitely play into it.

@TheChipRoom my biggest question is, do you keep a set for yourself from every one you release? I can understand if you don’t want to answer, but if I was you I would have kept one from every casino. What a sick collection that would be!
I used to, but someone would always offer too much money, so I would let them go. I sold off most of them, since I don't have a game here in Utah. I let my son take a nice tournament set of Horseshoes to college. If those kids had any idea what those chips were worth, I would never see them again.

Ahhh Jim, us Utahns gotta change that! Game on once this damn virus takes a back seat!

The above is how I was introduced to NLHE, except the blinds started at .25/.50 and the buy-in was $10 for $20 in chips. Unlimited re-buys until the final table.

We've played a Pick-a-Stack Tournament. Using a T100,000 blind schedule, you can buyin for T75k ($30), T100k ($40), T125k ($50) or T150k ($60).

Glad to see you back in the chip buying game Mark!! I bought a nice 10k set but unfortunately won't cover our group!! Solid 20 person though with rebuys and 1k on time bonus! Looking forward to seeing that low denom tourney set!! Maybe we can talk @Lil Tuna into a cash freeze out/ hybrid tourney game up our way!! Good day chippin brother!! Hope you and the family are all safe!!
