Any other poker chip loving baseball fanatics on here.
Really excited for the start of MLB on Thursday.

Pissed that MLB screwed over my local minor league team which had great community and fan support, great facilities and a great league to play in.

I’ll be glad to get to see a few games in person.

Lifelong fan of the Reds just like my dad and uncles and grandpa. First memories are the Big Red Machine.
I’m always happy to talk baseball with anyone.

Seattle hasn’t had a baseball team in nearly 20 years. Right, @liftapint?

Baseball Fanatic here.......sadly a die hard Ranger fan and we are going to SUCK this year

Haven't missed opening day in 31 years, except of course last year, but we are going to be so bad this year it may be the only game I go to all year

Let's go Twins.

Hopefully they can outrun the White Sox and their manager, Foster Brooks, and the rest of the AL to the pennant this year

The Mariners suck. Absolutely hate them. HATE. Suck suck suck SUCK. They suck.

But damn if they don't have a few decent hitting prospects coming.

Can't even freakin wait for opening day. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Excited to watch SD and WSox this year. And the Cubs. Always love the cubbies.

Opening day. The one day where all teams are tied for first and everyone still has a chance. Playoffs are far in the future and you get to revel in the here and now. Where you hope your aging star still has one more great season in them and that the hot rookie arrives to take his place. Where you cheer for that fringe fan favourite to make the team. Where you get to second guess the manager's decisions and dream of big trades for the GM to make.

Go Jays Go!

If you haven’t seen “The Battered Bastards of Baseball” on Netflix please do.
As a former Indy Leaguer it rang true to me in many ways. They don’t make em’ like Bing Russell anymore, I was fascinated by his story.

I'll second the recommendation to watch "The Battered Bastards of Baseball", good watch!

Also, go Jays!!!

Since my dad was one of the "Battered Bastards of Bastogne", I may have to watch that, but I suspect the name is just a cheapening of the original...

I agreed to work and miss opening day. We have a ton of COVID shots to administer, not enough staff, and if I DON'T go (on my planned day off); those guys do not get a break or lunch....kinda have to go help. However, I managed to at least see the opening inning before I have to go in. Looking forward to a great MLB season!!! GO CARDS!! I hope it is an epic season

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I’d like to call your attention to the following rules strictly enforced at Fenway Park.

Oh shit, does the big green monster have COVID?

Yay! BASEBALL!
So happy for the next 160 games!
Hopefully they'll be better than my Rangers first 2 games!

Random opening weekend thoughts!

Bellinger loses a homer on a baserunning error. WTF!

Kershaw gets bombed for 5 ER but gets 2 hits. WTF!

Last year's AL West division winner Oakland looks terrible. Swept in 4 games against Hou (fucking cheaters).

Baltimore was one of the worst teams last year (one game better than terrible Boston) but Boston gets absolutely steamrolled by Baltimore. How bad will Boston be this year?

Looks like reality came to town for Detroit, down 7-0 nothing to a real team (MInn) already today after taking 2/3 from Cleveland.
Baddoo homers on first pitch in MLB. How bad is Cleveland (2nd pl. AL Central last year) after losing 2/3 to Tigers?

28 year old Rookie Mercedes with 2128 minor league AB goes 8/8 to open season. Mercedes is now the first player in the modern era (dating back to 1900) to begin a season with hits in his first eight at-bats. WTF!

Shit ton of injuries already to open season. Could be a terrible year for the medical bay. Who can stay healthiest and avoid covid is going to be a huge factor. Already Nationals have 4 games cancelled and will be playing a lot of 7 inning double headers to make up games.

Edit: score 11-1 now in 5th Twins/Tigers game today, just in the time it took to write this.

Ohtani hits a 450 ft homer, throws a bunch of pitches over 100 mph, and doesn't get the win because 2 runs scored on a strikeout! That was a wild game.

Sadly probably another year that Trout misses the playoffs. Though if the Athletics are truly terrible then maybe the Angels sneak in there.

My lowly Mariners look to have a bunch of good young hitters. Unsure on the pitching. Likely, will lose a bunch of games 8-7 and continue the streak for longest playoff drought in all of sports.

What's going on with your team Yankee fans? 5-10? Wowza. That's usually where the Mets record is around this time.
