Jack casino’s being sold! (7 Viewers)

The market will be full of sharp-edged RHC chips for a long time now. All these Detroit chips, plus all secondary racks from Ohio if those casinos ever sell and rebrand. The 20 racks of quarters will be the most expensive of these until you get to the higher denoms like $1k and $5k.

I agree the mint primary 25c, $1, $5 will sell for more. But there are going to be sooooo many chips coming along eventually that the market will be pretty well flooded.

I believe Rock Gaming/ Dan Gilbert own a casino in MD. Not positive of that and MD laws regarding what they can do with the chips after the rebranding.
Which casino. It’s not Horseshoe or Live. That leaves Rocky Gap (very small) and the one in Parkville (which is a Hollywood casino)

These chips never shipped to the casino .. and this casino never actually opened under this name. So there is no real issue with gaming since they were not an active chip. Although gaming may want the buyer to get licensed ..so they can collect their fee. But I speculate that they will refrain from getting involved for obvious reasons.

GPI was paid for the chips or at the very least they have the commitment that the chips will be paid for.. without question.

And yes.. GPI absolutely knows there is a secondary market and they don't care what the casino does with them after they purchase them.

So we don't know for sure the other Jack's chips are coming yet and we don't know who bought the chips? I'm confused. GPI still has the chips?

I was super pumped at this news.

Until I saw the chips. I’m definitely keen to get my hands on some of the oversized $1k secondary and $5ks but other than that it’s a big fat meh from me.

^Agree^
Maybe throw the $500 Primary in the mix that may be pretty sweet

Do people want the quarter for the color or because it’s an actual casino quarter? Just asking since the colors don’t do it for me so I’d personally just relabel something else.

I'm confused.
  1. Dan Gilbert or his companies bought Greektown Detroit Casino with the intention of rebranding it to a Jack casino.
  2. These chips were made for that new Jack Detroit.
  3. Sometime before they shipped, Dan Gilbert decided to get out of the casino game altogether.
  4. Dan Gilbert's company never took delivery of these chips, but apparently made a commitment to pay for them.
  5. The defunct casino auctioned them off (blind bid).
  6. We don't know who the buyer is.

I was actually thinking the 212 hundo would make an epic relabelled frac if you went for a slightly weird Cali chip coloured lineup.

Let's see actual chip photos first; they may look better.
The RHC/THC thing is beyond me, in the very same way that it's been beyond casinos :)
I 'm only pissed off because I (and a few others here) would have made them all so much nicer, if we had the chance:D

All Detroit casino quarters are peach-ish. MGM, Motor City, Greektown. These are 20 mint racks, the only ones ever. It's a rarity thing. If I was selling these, I'd break up one rack for samples and list the others at $4-500 each.

Woah glad peach ain't my thing... thought I'll definitely get some of those MGM Detriots when I eventually make a mixed house mold set with the large inlay mandalay $1s

#5 notable correction.. GPI had nothing to do with the sale officially. The chips were sold by the 'casino' that never truly existed. Not really an auction as it was a blind bid... although I won't comment on that further.

Editted #5. Thanks for keeping the facts straight... Not trying to be misleading...

Or a relabeled $1, like one of my favorite sets!

Well, if that’s the case and these show up for $300+ a rack, I hope the chips rot in someone’s basement. I won’t be paying those prices.
