KQo in good possition (1 Viewer)

Pre-flop I lean towards call, although I don't hate a 3-bet in position.

Pros to 3 betting: Although I would be a little wary of the 4-bet from Crazy his 4-bet% is pretty small (once this session out of several 3-bets) so I think building the pot in position is ok. Cons to 3 betting: you have a bunch of stations in this game, many of whom will come along and as the Dr noted there is a potential ROI problem in multiway pots with this type of hand.

Post flop, I agree with Ben and Chippy. We are not likely folding all the players here, so lets hope for the J on the turn.

The RIO problem with KQ is running into AQ/AK/AA when you catch top pair. For example, Hero paid $6 to see a flop. Lets say the flop comes :kc: :8d: :7d: but the original raiser holds AK. Now hero has made the hand he wanted to make but is in serious trouble. Thus the reverse implied odds risk - hero makes his target hand but it is no good.

If the UTG raise had come from a tight player, I would have given serious though to folding because the raiser's range would be packed with hands that put Hero in serious jepardy. Hero wasn't nearly as concerned with this villain's range since we know his UTG raise range is almost any two cards.

Alright, I am ignorant, so please explain "potential RIO problem".
Pretty sure they mean ROI at this point in the had. RIO won't come in to play until they get it in on the turn ;)

RIO is Reverse Implied Odds... not ROI (Return on Investment). As the Dr explains... it is the scenario when you are drawing to a worse hand than your opponent is drawing to... looking for the same card... i.e. getting free rolled.

The day after I wondered if a preflop fold might not be best. Hero's position is the biggest plus, but the multi-way flop with a too high SPR is a serious problem for KQo.

The flop semi bluff seemed at the time to be about neutral EV. The bluff isn't going to work that often, though as we can see from David O's comment some of the people at the table take Hero's bets seriously {sometimes} Still risking $20 to win $31 isn't a terrible proposition when merged with Hero's draws if called. The biggest risk is getting raised, not a trivial concern with Crazy Jr at the table. Hero might have 30-40% equity even if someone calls Hero's bluff and he might be ahead if someone check/calls with a weaker straight draw.

Mostly I was curious what people thought about the preflop option -=- DrStrange

Ah, but is that play the most +EV move available? I have no idea, just askin'.....
