I am going to start working through this now. I hope to have table assignments up today then I can start preparing.

I was going to use tournament director but think I may just use this as an opportunity to practice table movements.

As a n00b here, I'm not sure I understand what we're doing next. Are we actually playing poker against each other? Do I need to download software to my PC and be available at a specific time in order to play?

The giveaways are just like raffles. Just wait to see if you won. Usually instead of just drawing names the person running it will play a hand of poker with the names to see who won. Just a different way to choose a winner.

OK, that's kinda what I thought at first when I entered. Then he started talking about table assignments and such. Like I said, I'm new here so just wanting to understand how these things go down. This is really a fun forum! I'm glad I stumbled in. :D

Yes, I just need an excuse to get all my poker chips out. I am working out the game structure now.

Looks like 22 tables!

Player list replaced by table draw. Sorry for the delay, I hadn't put 2 and 2 together with the weekend being Mother's Day weekend. There was no way I was going to try to pull off any poker related stuff!

I am going to try to do the first couple tables tonight. Reminder, there will be a random draw for one of the players knocked out in the first round to return in the final table (with the same chip stack as the lowest at the table).

Today's chips. T2000 starting stacks.

Wow... Felt happy taking that inside wrap + two live backdoor flush draws, one of which came in, vs. top set. But then I realized I only have 4 outs! :D

Edit: Got myself confused. My name is Cliff, so I saw my name and thought it was me. I guess I flopped top set instead... doh!

The game is Big-O. It's holdem but 5 private cards instead of 2. Like Holdem, 2 private cards can be used to make a 5-card hand. 5 private cards simply generate more action.

Biggest difference comes in the Hi/Lo aspect. High hands are as normal, but low hands work like this:

1. Low hands must have 5x non-paired cards that are 8 or below to 'qualify' (Aces are High & Low)
Note: this means that the board must have at least three low cards for a low pot to even exist
2. Lowest 5 card hand wins (5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - A beats 6 - 4 - 3 - 2 - A beats 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 [this last one is the worst qualifying low hand, even 8 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 2 beats it])

High winner gets half pot, low winner gets half pot. Best scenario is you get the whole pot!

Fun game because there is tons of action, stacks get in quickly, and you get to see some big hands

Hope this helps.

Edit: Omaha "Hi/Lo" is the same thing as Big-O but with 4 cards. Regular Omaha (different than Omaha Hi/Lo) is exactly like Holdem but with 4 cards. They're all very similar games since they're variations of Holdem. Think of them as cousins with the same hand rankings but with very different strategy.

Other names for Omaha Hi/Lo are PLO-8 (this is pot limit), Omaha Hi/Lo, OH/L, O8+, Omaha 8's or better, Omaha Split, Omaha Split Hi/Lo, or any variation of this
