Las Vegas trip report - Goodbye Bally's (12/14 - 12/22) (4 Viewers)

It's too bad they chose such dark base colours for the $25 and $500 chips. They would have looked so much nicer with some brightness.

I'm not particularly bothered by the spot patterns. RHC is typical nowadays, so not bothered by that either. Casinos should spend some money on good designers.

Here are the tournament chips:

Holy shit spots batman.

What do you think the odds are that if you just picked 9 random PCFers and asked them to design chips for Horseshoe Las Vegas that the worst out of the nine would be three times as good as these steaming piles?

Horseshoe manager ordering solids for the tournament set...

Manager: "I'd like NCV tournament chips. Black 100, blue 500, yellow 1000, orange 5000, pink 25000"
GPI Rep: "...and pink 25,000. What color would you like for the spots?"
Manager: "I dont give a shit about spots"
GPI Rep: "...shit spots"

Are these even true edge spots? They are the crudest, ugliest spots I've seen on chips. Looks more like a grade-school art class project.

The asymmetry of Horseshoe and Las Vegas with the denom drives me nuts. All the other Horseshoe chips had symmetrical logos.

There has to be a dude at GPI who works in designing chips for casinos who is absolutely having his soul crushed by all these casinos going with such cheap, bland options
Actually, GPI has designers on staff -- a lot of the casinos just supply rough guidelines and the assigned designer delivers artwork and chip construction colors and spot patterns. The applicable designer's name is listed on the GPI proofs.

Every chip design they ever tried to pawn off on us was awful.... and always on a RHC mold. :(

Update for today…

After a great afternoon hanging out with Rufus and Mike talking shop and meet-ups, plan was to go play a tourney at Orleans.

Rufus and I fist went to the food court and no shit, I almost passed the f*ck out ordering my subway sandwich. Made it back to our table before I went down. I came back a bit, made it to the restroom and went down again…

Came back and all was back to normal.
A clear cut case of 40h without sleep, passing on breakfast en lunch and 420…. I have hypotension so my blood pressure went way down and I crashed. Not the fist time, after my sandwich and a solid 8h sleep I am rolling again. I’m clearly past my young years.

Tomorrow I will switch to normal day hours and stay posting pictures.

Jetlag + No Sleep + Vegas is a potent combo. Take care of yourself, mate! The poker tables aren’t going anywhere.

Thanks, going to slow down (a bit) and I am in good hands with Mike and Rufus.

And since things were a bit blurry, it could have been those Tiger chips that made me pass out… Holy Moly @kk405 and @JeepologyOffroad

And the first unveiling EVER without any stink. If one score deserved it, it’s this GOAT NAGB…fantastic

Hooked up with @djmarc yesterday night at our room and had a great chat at the poker room when Mike joined us after his harvest trip to GN.

We will hit the Orleans at 10 for a tourney and I am going to Wynn to check the Mystery bounty.

But seriously. These 100s look so damn close. I'd like to see them in person. I can't put a wanted ad out and looks like chiproom sold out of them.

If anyone has a few spare jumers 100s, I'd trade/ buy them Just for a side by side pic.

Plenty of these weirdo jock types running around and hitting the gym at 7AM

Another great day in Sin City.
Tourney and cash at Orleans and rest of the evening / night at Bally’s / Horseshoe poker room.

Rufus, Mark and me went to Tod Brunson’s Italian restaurant for dinner…great food.

And Rufus and I tried the whiskey glaced burger at Fridays in Orleans…very tasty, must try (and cheap too)
