So I just recently purchased a set of majesties for a T25 tourney. I actually love the chips and am considering getting a set for a cash game as well.

However. When j got my shipment those chips smelled awful. I tried washing them with a little dish soap and it helped “a little.” I realize time and usage will help but wasn’t sure if anyone else had issues with these and/or had a solution.

Just curious.

Ozium odor eliminating gel, can be bought at Walmart, AutoZone, Target etc.

If you had an extra storage container and could just leave all the chips scattered in the closed container the gel would work faster.

Personally I would take a baking pan, put down a layer of baking soda, spread out the chips, Add more baking soda, and let the chips sit. But some folks may not want the powder substance on the chips.

I washed the China Clays chips i had in warm water w dish soap. Lost a couple of stickers (but they were plastic so could be reglued). The small after was tolerable. I think there is some type of "funk" residue from the manufacturing process on the chips that will dissipate over time but can be helped off also.

I was considering getting a small cash set of Apache Dunes CC, but I’m hesitant about possibly ruining them by soaking them. Although I’ve heard the Dunes do not smell as bad as the majestics.

Completely my opinion, but having had CCs from Apache and other supplliers, I have to say the hybrid ceramics are more than worth the extra 6 cents per chip.

Whats the difference between hybrid and just regular ceramics? I have samples of the Apache empire and the taj mahals are those hybrids or no?

No, those are cards mold ceramics where the "inlay" is printed onto the chip directly. Hybrids have a recess in the chip and the "inlay" is an actual label/sticker, not directly printed on the chip like no-mold/card molds. This results in a sharper image/text and also reduces (or altogether eliminates) the chance of spinners.
