Majestic China Clays (2 Viewers)

The majestic chips sure looks nice. I am really considering getting it as my first clay set for playing.

I pulled the trigger and loved them so much, I pre-ordered the Royal's for a cash set.

I'm new to hosting a game, we've got our 6th poker night coming up and we started with 6 players the first two poker nights, now we play a 30 seat tournament every six weeks! I bought some metal insert cash denominations to start with, we played 2 tournaments with cash denominations - not a fan & one of the main reason I got new chips was to change the structure to T10,000 starting stack.

I did relabel the orange chips for my T5000 because I didn't care for the brown chip. I went through ABC Gifts and Awards for my relabels, Gene was extremely easy to work, I thought about getting blank Royals and selecting my chips for my cash set - but couldn't justify adding .30 cents to each chip.

Discount Poker Chips metal inserts - not bad for .12 cents to get started. Sold these to a poker group member, we still use these until my Royal's come in next month.

I am ordering a set am going to do the exact same thing for the brown chips actually. I am curious if ABC Gifts and Awards had mentioned if they were able to do an unique custom denomination? I am going to reach out to them because that would really help me solve a denomination issue I have with the Majestic standard denominations.

Yeah, they can print and denomination you want - good luck!

We have a long-standing (8yr) game that we play religiously once per week and have always had .20/.40 blinds and $40 initial buy in. I would really like a .20 denomination (or some multiple of that) so that we can have exact denominations. No one is very excited about changing the blinds.

Curious why the random blind denoms? So you keep dimes in bank to cash people out?? Wouldn't 25¢ make everyone's life easier? 1 because there is actually a 25¢ chip, and 2 to make bankers Life a 100x easier. You can still buy in for $40 but I'd prefer $50. Just a thought

Yeah it’s just that I’m dealing with a group of people who are set in their long-standing ways. But I will say that everyone is happy with the play and don’t want it to change (especially just because of chips). The blind structure existed when I joined the group and the existing set we just use multiples so $20=0.20 etc and we have .20, .50, 1, 5, 10. Part of it is that we do want to keep buy ins at 100xBB and there are some other group dynamics that prevent us from raising the initial buy ins (although players average 1-2 rebuys).

I'm looking at buying some blank majestics in the near future, is this a chip that would be safe to use the mineral oil and water trick on?

Yes, these are “China clays” like Milano’s etc. I have not done so myself, but I would be hesitant to oil them before you sticker them. I would oil them after you sticker them.

You CAN NOT submerge them in mineral oil/water though - the labels will fall off!! ** I learned the hard way, I submerged mine in a bowl for 30 sec to a minute to get 25 chips oiled real quick, ALL labels came off those chips. I used a micro fiber cloth and applied the mineral oil to the cloth - then wipe down each chip, they it soak in for a while, then buff off the rest of the oil. The chips colors pop after this process.

That being said, I did this to half of my chips before my poker night, I simply ran out of time, so my 25 & 100 tournament chips did not get oiled. After the night was over, the oils from the players hands changed the colors drastically, I didn't expect this. Because of this, I will not be fishing the other 800 chips I still need to do - too much work! lol

Good luck!

Did you just provide a way to remove label faster? :)

Well that is odd, I ordered mine just in April as well. All I used was a couple teaspoons of mineral oil with warm water and mixed large batches for 20-30 seconds. Dried them off...let sit for a few days and they were good to go.

Ok, I used A LOT more mineral oil, 50/50 - the oil probably released the labels.

Ahhh, that could be the culprit. I'm no expert on chip maintenance, though. The Majestics are my first rodeo.

I'm new to the whole hobby!!!! lol I've played NLH in high school & college but just recently got into hosting a game every 6 weeks. I love the Majestic's, I'm actually thinking about selling my Orange $5,000 chips (50) and ordering the new Royal Orange and the Pink chips to add to my tournament set Majestic, I think it would be cool that the higher 5K and 25K chips are 43mm. Toying on the idea, we'll see when I get my Royal cash set in Aug and see how if it's worth it.

We're thinking along the same lines!
My mistake was ordering way too many (good problem to have) and ordering before learning the value of having a separate cash and tourney set.

I think I'll relabel the lower denominations and make the $10 into a frac, and then use some royal blanks as higher tourney values. It's not perfect but would be an easy way to venture further down the chipping rabbit hole.

Also now when I need to get those labels off, I'll make sure to use that 50/50 mix. ;)

Lol - it might have been more like 90/10 oil! Make sure if you do this, you let your chips dry for 2-3 weeks before relabeling them, mine sat there while I waiting for the new labels to be made.

I just looked at Apache website, the pink blank chip is sold out! Might pull the trigger on the Pink labeled chips, soak them in oil! lol .01 cent difference, not gonna break the bank!

I'm really close to pulling the trigger on adding some Royal's to my majestic tournament set and relabeling them with majestic 43mm labels so they match. I would only need to order 50 more $1,000 majestic to fill up the rack, then 75 orange Royals for my 5k's and I'd get 25 pink or rainbow possible in 25k. My groups been asking really bad for an add on to our regular tournament, I've said no for 2 reason, needed more chips and all it will do is make game last longer - might be a win/win for the group! lol

I suppose that is one way to work around an out of stock issue! My group is really just happy with anything, so I am lucky that I can wait. We've also moved to .25/.25 or .25/.50 and away from tournaments for the most part. I miss them, but with only one table it's for the best.

Luckily some high denom 43mm will still be cheap to accomplish, look great, and satisfy my hobby needs at the very least.

Yeah, that will be the most economical for sure. I was watching re-runs of the WSOP main event today and I just really like seeing 2 sizes of chips on the table, the larger chips being the higher denominations.

I've run into a unique situations of having 25+ seat tournaments every 6 weeks, it's a lot of fun, however it's gotten pretty expensive since I ran into a situation where we were $120 large in chips at the cash game, we used to use lower cash denomination for tournaments, once the $1 and some $5's were chipped up from the tournament - we'd play a $1/$1 cash game. The next day I ordered 1300 Majestic's to fit 30 seat, plus 10 rebuys. My group is also donating $5 from each entry to cover 50% of the cost of 16 new chairs and a new table - pretty nice there helping out.

Check out my build over here.....

Oh that's very nice! I've been watching that table thread, it looks great. Amazing to pull off that much expansion in such a short amount of time. The two sizes will go over well, I bet.
