Well have not had the opportunity to play here yet so finally had a little sesh. Small win to the tune of $150. Had a 15 minute heater when I sat then I went dead.

Highlights: AQ flopped top two, QQ then AA then flopped a straight with straight flush redraw.

And of course a trophy. They use $2 chips in their $1 / $2 games... not sure why. I really like the $2 chip.

Looks like a reconditioned chip. Is there such a thing??? Looks painted with a decal insert.

I don't know. It's a Paulson based on the top hat and cane inlay. Good colors. I cleaned and oiled it which is why it's shiny.

Great looking spots. I'll be there in Sep for a conference...I'm going to try and head out there to play some pokah. How's their poker room?

They do, but if you're upstairs in the back it can be a pain.

Didn't think about that, I just assumed there were restrooms upstairs as well.. I've been there a dozen times, but only had to go upstairs once for a couple hours. I must not generally go when it's super busy (though it always seems full, at least downstairs).

I have 8-10 of those 2's from release day. Still nice and minty fresh.

I run bad there.. so I'm on a break. :-)

Playing 1/2 NL with $2 chips seems awful to me. Probably because I've never done it.

It's really only annoying when every time you want to tip the cocktail waitress $1 you have to ask the dealer to chop a $2 chip (yes I'm a cocktail waitress tip nit).

In addition to not liking $2 chips in general for a 1/2 or 2/5 NL game, I've also had the occasional issue at MD Live with dirty stacks as the $2 chip and $25 chip blend together a bit under dim lighting (IMO).

But that's the only Poker option close to D.C. right? I won't have a car that week so probably have to take uber or taxi over there. Is it worth it for the cab fee and hour trip?

Cab/Uber from DC to the BWI area is going to be pretty expensive (I assume). Depending on where you are in DC (and when you're going), you could take a MARC train to BWI-rail station. From there it's probably a somewhat inexpensive cab/uber (maybe even bus) to the casino.

Whether it's all worth it or not is up to you. I've only been there a dozen times, but I feel like MD Live is a pretty decent poker room. I used to live in MD, about 40 minutes from MD Live, but we moved to NY literally 4 days before the poker room opened :( Talk about bad timing.

Depends what you mean by "close"..... Horseshoe Baltimore is just a few more minutes north on I-95, not to mention MGM at National Harbor opening later this year

Ooh, ooh new casino means new chippies. Hope they open by Sep.

Word around here is an August opening date. You might be in luck!

A third casino opening within a couple years of me leaving. I'm cursed!!

The only bright spot is there's a new casino opening next spring less than 5 miles from my new place. I doubt it will be quite as nice/juicy/large as any of the DC area poker rooms, but considering right now the closest casinos are Turning Stone (100 miles) and Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun (175 miles), anything that take a long drive out of the equation would be welcomed.

I was thinking the same thing! I've never been to a casino opening. I was not that into poker when all the card rooms started opening here in MD. Hoping i can snag some nice minty fresh MGM chips lol

I was at the opening for live and 1 day after the shoe opened. My mint live chips were stolen from my house. Still have the harshness

I plan on being at the MGM at National Harbor when it opens too.

That's terrible. Your house got robbed or taken by guests?

Taken by a guest. Can't prove anything, but I have my ideas. They were on a bookcase full of samples and such. After the game I hosted, I noticed that something was missing. Still pissed, but nothing I can do. I'm sure they went back into circulation that night anyway.
