Messing with Telemarketers (1 Viewer)

The bottom line is you nancys decided you hated me after bbotb iii because you dont share my non-pc humor and think im racist (lol) and have to try and gang up with your lame posse to demonize me, going so far as accussing me of being a sociopath based on my latest two threads

You sallies need to get over yourselves or get bent or seek help because you are exceedingly idiotic with the constant need to troll my threads and toss around shit like sociopathy. I mean seriously bro do u even realize how f'ing mental you sound? You're like tom cruise jumping on oprahs couch

Gnu, I truly owe you an apology. I was in a bad mood yesterday when I read your post. I re-read it this morning, and you are absolutely correct. Your behavior and the game that you play with Telemarketers was pure hilarity. Im still laughing.

I hope you no longer think of me as a Sallie. I was actually out all night messing with homeless people. I put shaving cream in their hand and then tickle their nose. Its even more hysterical since they don't have a sink to clean up with and have to use dirty water...LOL As an added bonus, I kicked a few stray cats on the walk home. Probably made their day. Stupid Cats, there always so desperate for attention.

Keep Rockin, my man!

OK, I didn't call you a sociopath, I speculated that PERHAPS you were a sociopath. Your non-pc humor and pranking people with whom you have no relationship shows a level of disregard for how others might feel. This is indicative of those who lack empathy. Seriously, the list that BGinGA posted describes a lot of your behavior both on this forum and in person. Really, how many other people do you see claiming they are being ganged up on by the mean girls? Stop and ask yourself why.

We make rude and offensive jokes all the time. It's not the words, it's the sentiment. Maybe consider some introspection and some growth. Or maybe you can never admit you're wrong (wasn't that on the list?).

I'm 30% sociopath (meaning not a sociopath). I think I am more accurately borderline Asperger's, and that accounts for the Sociopathic traits. But just a little touch of it, you know, in a good way. Not a great test in my psychometric opinion. I'd love to see their statistical data, especially their validity evidence.

Personally, I kind of enjoy Gnu's outside-the-box thinking. I briefly held a telemarketing job for a large corporation that got their leads off contest entries (that any sane person should have known was the doorway into telemarketing hell). Hated the job, loved being the only male in a room full of desperate (and mostly hot) women, so I probably stuck around much longer than I should have.

I was also the top salesperson. I earned a shitload for a kid still living at home.

If Gnu held some sucker on the line, then said sucker was oblivious to the fact they were being led on. They lost out on possible commissions by being bad at their job. Not going off-script enough to make the interaction personal (a key to any sales, whether waiting tables, selling Ferrari's, or telemarketing) is just bad for the company, the employee and the (potential) customer. A good sales person needs to identify the "looky-loo", and dump them when there is a probable sale waiting.

I do find it mildly rude that he was laughing at someone else's ignorance. This tells me that he may not be as bright as I would otherwise give him credit for, because when you are actually smarter than the average bear, you simply tolerate those not as intelligent as you, as they are soooo common, that it's more sad than funny.

Also, 50% Sociopath. I want to hang with @12thMan to see if combined we are awesome members of society or the downfall of civilization.

Also, I reread one of your earlier posts, and I wanted to refute something.

I speak for the Mean Girls Bicycle Gang when I maintain that we have never demonized you.

(Demons are far, far taller than you. You're more of an imp, really).

I was laughing more at the ridiculousness of my routine than anything. Also, I'm sure all the naysayers in this thread have never laughed at prank phone calls like The Jerky Boys or Crank Yankers. No jokes in this serious thread, everyones a saint.

Interesting point. Another company that had called us for financing, this guy was tenacious. For him I was doing the "Sylvester"

I referred to myself as Sssylvester and kept calling the guy Sssssaamy (his name was nowhere near Sam) and telling him we were Ssswiming in a Sssseaaa of Debt! This guy didn't stick to the script, and after three separate (just realizing I should've used Ssstick Ssscript Sssthree Ssseparate) call backs on different days my boss gave the guy a chance and took 140K in financing from him for our warehouse expansion.

Isn't there a no call list? I can't remember if business lines can be on it? the silly people who cold call in my industry have to check a number against the no call list before they can cold call.

Besides additional cost, I think that telemarketers are responsible for more and more people getting rid of their landlines. I'll never own one again.

that cold call list is garbage, ive been on it for some time now and I still receive telemarketing phone calls at least once a day

So multiple unsolicited calls actually led to a sale, and this service was a benefit to your company?

Can you blame others for trying?

Making volume unsolicited calls and reading from a script isn't a real job as far as I'm concerned.

this type of thinking is even more disgusting than your behavior during these calls imo. i guess it's more respectable to be unemployed?

the nerve of these horrible people trying to initiate a mutually beneficial business relationship.

I have an inexpensive land line that is needed for our security system. When I'm home, the caller ID shows on my TV so I can answer if necessary. During election season, we are inundated with political calls that are even more annoying than telemarketing calls. I never listen to the voice mail for that line -- I'm sure my mailbox is full. Anybody who needs to reach me has my mobile number. I dread the day when telemarketers start to call cell phones (I've had a few).

The only "fun" I have with that line is when I'm at a store and am asked for my phone number their database. I say, "I'll give you the number for the phone I don't answer." The clerk usually smiles.

Whoever is responsible for calls I get on my cell phone at least once a week that are a recording saying 'Congratulations...you have won a free cruise! To claim your prize please press 1 now' can cut it out. That kind of crap is the real enemy we are fighting.... soon as you press 1 you get connected to a long distance number and they milk you hard. (so I hear)

I used to be a telemarketer, back when I was a student and it was the best job I could find in a tough job market. I hated the job. I hated bothering people, but I was never an asshole to the people I called, and always was respectful to those who clearly wanted me to go away. It's a tough spot to be in, show some compassion next time.

Yup, had the same job one summer after freshman year in college and ditto. As far as it not being a "real job", the fact that gnu does this at work and his boss thinks its funny only validates that his job isn't real either.

Holy moley, let's hope there was more due diligence than just the guy was persistent enough to ask three times. Reminds me of the Will Farrell middle eastern bad guy character captured by Austin Powersin one of the Austin Powers movies. He had to answer the question after being asked three times. :)
