In a typical split pot table the dealer keeps the pot split - u don’t see it that much anymore. esp if u see limit o8 where casinos love making you use 6chips for turn and river bets so u don’t notice the rake.
PLO specifically. Here is a situation that always gets me.
Let's say blinds are 100/200 and I have 10k stack. I have 10J53 on the BB. Somebody makes it 400 to go preflop with 4 callers and myself seeing a flop.
Flop comes 7s8s9h and we flop the nuts. Where do we go from here?
Do we open, check raise, or dare I say possibly check call...
You will have to forgive me for the delays...I'm at work and also typing on my phone.
Some hands you don't play because even if you catch, that just means you are pretty likely to lose alot more money.
Strong two way starters (or very strong high starters that fold most flops) only. Play to scoop. Without nut draws/nut redraws to improve play very cautiously.
In 4 card O8 if you play any hand preflop without an Ace in it you are playing with fire. It is the only 2 way card essentially making your hand a 5 card hand compared to an hand without one. The playable hands in 4 card hi/lo are so limited the game is pretty damn boring unless you are playing with a bunch of fish.
We're definitely being technical, we're talking about poker strategy on a poker forum.
You mention getting sucked in when there's several callers ahead of you, but this hand is still dogwater holding even cheaply against multiple opponents. We got lucky and flopped a straight, fantastic, but we're a long way from showdown and there's several people with 4 cards in their hands.
