I’ve spoken with him about the alleged Gulfports. I told him what I thought. He told me what he thought. Cordial conversation - agree to disagree.WW has said he likes to browse this thread to get ideas on sets to go out and buy.
Dibs!If only we could see those minty ones that apparently exist. Anyway, for now...
Thanks brother. I appreciate the kind words.Absolutely loved browsing this thread, some intense casino sets in here.
Chester Moe Lester? He's very famous.Yeah I saw that Adolfos $100 on the Chipguide this morning. Who is Moe Lester? lol

When u stack the chips - they spell out ore house and the ladies are lying. Super cool. I’m trying to collect these as well. Missing the 5 and 25$. I have the plaques.I've still got plenty of ammunition for this thread. It is difficult to find a GOOD casino rack of ceramics. I find most of them uninspired with washed out colors. I don't own any of these, but I suppose I may try to collect them someday. The pics are NSFW, so I will spoiler them for y'all.
So here we have The Ore House ceramic chips from Reno. They took full advantage of Chipco offerings because they have an octagon AND a plaque in the lineup. The artwork on all six chips is unique among all casinos with one perspective of a scene on one side of the chip/plaque, then the 180° perspective of the same scene on the other. I shouldn't like them, but I do.
Hell yes! I ended up using the $1s in a mixed set almost by accident - just a lot nobody else wanted, and since I was buying another lot from the seller, I said what the heck, I’ll take those too.Top five house mold ever. Up there with Caesars Palace/Tahoe/Baccarat house mold. And one or two others that I just can't think of right now.

(pics from chipguide) Excalibur original chips are one of the last great LEADED Vegas chip racks. I own the $5 and $25, sharp and minty. A $1 will be easy to acquire, they pop up on eBay all the time. Not sure if I want a $100 or not, but it sure is pretty...
You could potentially put together a rack of $5s. Or more. $25s? Fuhgeddaboudit.Hell yes! I ended up using the $1s in a mixed set almost by accident - just a lot nobody else wanted, and since I was buying another lot from the seller, I said what the heck, I’ll take those too.
But once I got a look at the $5, $25, and $100, I wondered if I should be going in that direction. I doubt they’re available in quantity, but damn they’re pretty, especially those $5s!
Yeah there’s a ton of sharp mint $1s out there. They don’t seem like the typical eBay $1 souvenirs. I’ve often wondered what the story is behind them - how they escaped the Vegas chip destruction law.You could potentially put together a rack of $5s. Or more. $25s? Fuhgeddaboudit.
Once upon a time I had around 150x sharp $1s. Sold 'em. Some days I regret that!
Souvenirs. They never took them out of circulation. I think you can still find very worn ones on the floor. When they switched chips they just added them to what was already out there. I suppose they could have taken some super worn $1s out of circulation and destroyed them.Yeah there’s a ton of sharp mint $1s out there. They don’t seem like the typical eBay $1 souvenirs. Top 5? "Go to blows with anyone"... absolutely horrible inlay, dark and can hardly read... atleast they followed a spot progression but not overly Impressive and quite boring. (Thats coming from a guy that publically claims 414 is my favorite spot pattern).Oh, and Spacequest Hilton. Not a popular chip or house mold, but it is one of the top 5 house molds ever. I will go to blows with anybody who claims otherwise!

I have the $5. Looking for a $25. They pop up from time to time, and are not terribly expensive.
I’m with Ben. Not that I’m looking to throw or anything, but it’s a pretty crappy house mold. I’m surprised anybody would consider it above average.Top 5? Top 5?
Ballys, Golden Nugget, Tropicana, Dunes, Sundance are 5 that are often brought up on the forum... those Excaliburs you showed above... absolutely beautiful! Wouldn't even disagree on that one. So that's 6... no mention of AC sets like Sands, Resorts World... the OG AC chips where heavy leaded Paulsons and some of the best ever made. Hence my built of the combined Trump casinos of AC

MGM Detroit, MGM Foxwoods, MGM Vegas, Aria, Stardust Mansions.
Lots of house Molds out there I would personally rather have than Spacequest Hilton... and yes everyone is entitled to their opinions... just the "go to Blows" like really over spacequest... guess I just don't get it. On house molds maybe a 4 out of 10

I’m not looking to throw blows with you either, but I’m not sold on this one. I usually agree with your chip taste, but you threw me for a loop on “top 5.” Good hundo, and I do like the $5, but it’s not a GOAT, and the $25 does nothing for me.Oh, and Spacequest Hilton. Which is probably going to be a more popular opinion than not. I can get the chips around face value, which is excellent for clay Vegas chips that have been out of circulation as long as these have been.I’m with Ben. It’s funny because the first time I looked at it (granted, picture on a phone) my immediate thought was “they couldn’t even use an interesting font?”It's all about the font. THAT spacequest Las Vegas Hilton house mold font goes exactly with THAT theme. It is perfectly chosen. It evokes star ships, space shuttles, and even Star Trek. If you don't equate that font with the theme of the casino and things like it, you'll never see what I do in the house mold.
That AC Hard Rock house mold is a turd. Letters too close to the edge, small letters, and a bubble font that evokes the circus or the Flintstones more than "Hard Rock". You did mention other good ones, though.
If they didn't use that font for that house mold, I doubt I would even like the chips. They released a lot of Star Trek themed limited edition chips around the same time, mostly using the "Hilton H" house mold, and those are just mid. They had a whole area of the casino dedicated to the Spacequest theme, and that was the only place they used these chips. Once they removed that area, these chips were gone as well. It’s funny because the first time I looked at it (granted, picture on a phone) my immediate thought was “they couldn’t even use an interesting font?”
Then I looked for one on eBay and noticed the NASA looking font. So I get that point, but it’s still kind of subtle.
I’d love to see something like that done with a tiny recess like this - just give yourself a huge canvas to work with, and then fill it it creatively. Could be amazing. I guess we’ve never seen one like that?If they didn't use that font for that house mold, I doubt I would even like the chips. If I was a rich man, I'd open a casino with an outdoors theme. Bass fishing, hunting, jeep riding, chewing tobacco, campfires, and guitars. I'd make a mint. I'd also make great chips with a great house mold.
Some of the Caesars and Dunes 43 / 48 / 50mm house molds do that. Sorta.I’d love to see something like that done with a tiny recess like this - just give yourself a huge canvas to work with, and then fill it it creatively. Could be amazing. I guess we’ve never seen one like that?
