My Project: "Sitting Plush with a Royal Flush..." (1 Viewer)

For anyone with experience, is this a situation where it's cheaper by the dozen if you set up a group buy? CRAW would get 100% of the credit of course!!! Dang good looking set - I hadn't considered 43mm chips previously but having that as a cash game set is pretty appealing.

I don’t know much about ceramics, but they sound fragile, and I’m a newb chipper.

I’m doing blank CC Royals. It’s been over a year-long project so... I’ve spaced it out money wise.
Ceramics are, by far, the hardest material for a poker chip. @Hobbyphilic even put them in a blender! ...and the blender lost.
I recommend getting some samples before counting them out. You can go full-sized to the edge 43mm. Your art will look great at the larger size.

I 2nd this ^^^

If you haven't handled ceramics, get some samples. If you want, I can send you a shuffle stack of some casino-used Chipcos. No cost. PM me if you're interested.

I don’t really care for the look of those though... Do they make any that look like clay chips? @Colquhoun @Mangatang

I do however appreciate the larger canvas.
True, you choose ceramic when you’re trying to NOT look like clay, rather using them as a canvas for great art.
The other option is the cards mold/hybrid ceramic chips. They’re a ceramic chip with a recess for a label. They are less expensive than many other ceramics, because of the group buys here on PCF. Not sure at what stage the latest group buy is at though....

43mm / 39mm... IDK wtf I'm doing.

I got some samples a year ago and fell in love w/ the Royals and their colors, their feel, their sound and decided to go with them. Maybe I'm spending too much money on 'em, but again, I don't know what I've gotten myself in to, and I'm just taking the ball and running with it. :D

Having some drinks tonight and thinking about adding a $100 chip, and I’m thinking the silver/grey one from the Royals set. I’d like to incorporate all of the other colors of chips into the $100 chip. Hmmm.... (think hot pink, green, yellow and bright blue...)

Thoughts?

That gray/silver chip up above isn't a good representation of the actual chip, so I went with another, lighter picture of it.

What do you think of the $100 chip? Pisses me off that it will more than likely never get used with my group.  :(

Also, I added my last name to the card club name (request of the boss). Let me know what you think of that change, and also the $100. Seems like something is missing from the "sitting plush..." side (Side A). Like There needs to be something to jazz up the font or something.

I don’t like the rainbow coloring on that hundo

Yeah? I'm not one for rainbows really either, but I thought it was cool to incorporate the other four chip colors in a gradient on the hundo. No? Hmmm.... Gray, Black and White only on a chip could be rather dull. Nonetheless, thanks for your thoughts. I do appreciate it.

What about red on one Half and blue on the other like the stealie colors. the part where it says des moines from 12-6 and 6-12 . Crazy that you have a memorex avatar with maxells being the tape of the deadhead tapers

Could use some work, but IDK if I like it as well as the rainbow one that incorporated all the chip colors. The black font on Side A doesn't work, but I'm done for the night.

Thanks again for the feedback, guys.

On that 100, the background isn’t ghosted behind the type as in the other denominations. I think Rambling Rose is easier to read on those than the $100.

Yeah, I did that intentionally and also flipped the black and white drop shadow font on the $100 chip. The others are black w/ a white drop shadow, and the hundo is white w/ a black drop shadow. Just something I flip flopped to think it would be cool for a $100 chip. IDK

Just a thought...have you considered that stealie doesnt need to be on bloth sides? A rose may work and tie in with the name of the club. For example:

Plus you could change the background color for the other denominations:

Just a thought, feel free to blast it!

You wouldn’t need to create one, you could use raster art like Photoshop and get an image online (that’s how I got this one). Plenty of free resources and royalty free artwork. If you need any help, let me know.

If you go with the red white and blue colors, you could use the white chip as the hundo.

Hey @CRAW I think we have talked before, maybe in one of the Iowa related posts as I'm originally from Cedar Falls. Anyway, I just stumbled into your thread today. VERY COOL designs! Not sure if it's possible that you have been here over a year and not seen these, but to answer the question you asked, YES, you can get ceramic chips that look like clay. Of course, I'm referring to the infamous CARDS mold group buys. If by chance, you have not seen these, here are a couple of links to the pR0n page with several examples and the main info page. The chip blanks used are ceramic, but also go by the name polyclay, as they are clearly intended to look and feel somewhat like clay chips. Some of us feel they do so brilliantly, while others don't care for them as much. Only way to know would be to get samples and decide for yourself. Personally, I feel your design would look FANTASTIC on either a 39mm Cards mold or a 43mm plain mold (but less clay looking) blank. Also, the Chinese manufacturer / printer of these chips is not going to give a hoot if you use copywrited art. You're not selling them at retail, so I don't really see that you are creating a legal issue.

Hey, @TX_Golf_N_Poker! Yeah, we’ve chatted before. Welcome to my thread! Haha!
I have indeed since learned about these card mold chips and even got a sample set from @SeanGecko and his custom set. They are beautiful chips however this design is destined for Royals and should be complete in a few weeks I would think. I will have a design on stand-by though for the next cards mold group buy. You can count on that!

Thanks for reaching out, and take care!

OK, this is a 100% true story:
10 years ago... I'm playing 1-2 in the basement of the Hollywood casino in Lawrenceburg IN on a Friday night.
I end up in a big pot where I make trips on the river and put in a big bet. There's an A on board. I have my opponent on a big A. He puts in a raise. I'm just about to snap him off, when I look down at his arm. He has an ace tattooed on it (like worm). It's literally sticking out of his sleeve.
Right at that moment, Jerry comes through my earbuds and says "the aces are crawling up and down your sleeve".
I get that feeling like I'm tripping, and I think to myself, "Jerry is telling me he has aces".
I fold my trips.
He gives me a funny look, says, "nice fold" and shows aces full.
Thanks, Jerry!
