Hello all,

I am in the process of finishing up a CPC custom chip design. I've made a couple weird and secretive threads already while still asking for advice, because, well, I'm a weird person.

The colors have been picked out and the design is finally finalized. This thread will serve as a background into the set, as well as allow others to order sample sets if they are interested.

So now everyone will finally get to see the set design since it's done right? Right?

WRONG! What fun would that be? Anybody can just see chips and be like, "Ooooh I want some of those!" I'm still not releasing the design until the chips are done. One day you'll just get a package in the mail, open it, and say, "Really? THAT'S IT? THAT'S what all this secrecy and waiting was for? This guy is a real weirdo." It's thoughts like those that keep me going.

I will give you some information that will help you decide whether or not you want to order a sample.

- This is a SOLID ONLY set, no spots!

- CPC B-Diamond mold

- There are 6 denoms, no currency symbols (1, 5, 25, 100, 500, 1000)

- Dealer buttons will be available (OWPS 60mm)

- The design started as retro inspired but took a little bit of a modern twist

- The design is personal to myself/my family and may not appeal to others, commit at your own risk ;)

- The inlay was done by @Quicksilver-75

- Once the sample timeframe is closed, it will be very unlikely that additional samples will become available. I am not planning on adding to this set.

Final costs within US -

$11 total for chips only ($8 for 6 chips, $3 for shipping)

$17 total for chips + button ($8 for 6 chips, $5 for 1 button, $4 for shipping due to extra weight/thickness)

I have added totals next to your username if you ordered a sample. If you see an error in your total please let me know, location was based on your PCF profile location.

Edit - If you prefer to send the money now, I will accept payments immediately. Just know that payment is not REQUIRED until I receive the chips/buttons. This is totally your call!

*NOTE* - If they arrive before WCB and you are planning on attending, I can bring them with me to save on shipping. Chips and buttons will ship at the same time, even if one comes before the other. I am not expecting the chips until at least June.

Sample orders are closed as of Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 at 10:00pm EDT.

Posts #2 and #3 will be updated with some additional information on the set and maybe some hints about the design if I'm bored.

This post will also be updated with photos as they become available.

Thanks for putting up with me! :p

6/6/17 Update - Two small photos below, if you are waiting for your sample sets to see these chips, do not click this button!

Some background on the project:

I actually didn't have much interest in a full custom CPC set. I ordered some old ASM chips to have them labeled as a gift to my wife's parents, and I wasn't overly fond of the feel or sound.

This changed when I played with @Jeff 's The Everleigh Club chips. It was the first set of CPC custom chips I was exposed to in person, and they were awesome! I knew I wanted a custom set for myself eventually, but figured it was a long time away. Ok so I'm impatient.

I had been trying to think of a theme in my mind, something that was special or unique that'd set myself apart from the sea of other chips out there. I've always liked simple, classic and clean looking chips, but those risk being a little boring at times.

I started playing around with the Poker Chip Design Tool, and was still toying with more ideas for a theme in my head. I had grown fond of the B-Diamond mold after seeing the Bart's Bowl-O-Rama set in the HOF Voting thread. Also my wife's first name starts with B, as does mine, so I figured this was a good fit. @detroitdad graciously let me borrow his Blades sample set to take a look at, which confirmed that this was the mold for me. As luck should have it, this mold would also be in production within a few months. Did I mention I'm impatient?

I had several sets saved in the PCDT, everything from a solid set to a spotted set containing chips up to L11. I decided I didn't really know what would fit unless I had an inlay. Before I have an inlay, I need a theme.

I started by just looking at lists of words that start with the letter B kind of waiting for something to strike a chord in my brain. I spent an embarrassing amount of time doing this trying to put together an idea for a theme. I do like bowling, but it's been done (and done way better than I could probably do it.) Burgers? Beer? Bratwurst? Bluff? Bet? Brothel? Bananas? Band? Nothing was really sticking for me. I do love burgers though. I really should have gone with a burger theme. Sigh.

Oh wait. There's a word that means something to me. Really? That's the word that's going to stick in my brain? This word of all the words?

That word was...

(More to come later... none of these are the word I was referencing.)

Breeze.

It's kind of an underwhelming word when you think about it, and not something you'd normally associate with gambling or a poker chip set at all.

I have a room in my house where I set up my poker table, and it is not a designated poker space or man cave. Initially I envisioned a game room in my basement when my wife and I bought this house, but it's a weird shape with a short ceiling and it just didn't work out.

I'll back up a little bit. I had a pool table as a kid. As an adult, I've never been able to own one. Some of the most fun I had as a kid was shooting pool, and past the initial cost of the table it was always free entertainment for my family. (Oh crap maybe I should have made a "Billiards" theme, that starts with a B...)

When my wife and I were house shopping I insisted on a basement. I wanted my own pool table. She found a house she absolutely loved and while it has a basement, as I mentioned above it just doesn't have enough space to put something like a pool table or poker table in it. The dream was pretty much dead. The poker table was a compromise, but I still didn't want it in the basement.

There's a room off of the garage that leads into the main entrance of the house. It was a detached garage, but the previous owners added onto the house and boxed in the area between the garage and the entry to the main part of the house. This made it an attached garage (one of my requirements when we were house shopping.)

Does anybody know what this is commonly referred to? I had never heard it before until my realtor told us.

It's called a "breezeway."

Anytime my wife and I buy something and we aren't sure where to put it she always says, "We can put it in the breezeway."

I was considering buying a poker table but didn't know where we had the space for it. "We can put it in the breezeway."

We get a new piece of art, "We can put it in the breezeway."

We had a futon and now have a pull-out sofa in there. Whenever someone needs a place to stay, "We can put them in the breezeway."

It's probably one of my wife's most used words and it didn't even occur to me until I saw the word "breeze" on the internet.

So since it's kind of a catch-all room in our house, it's where games will be played and where we somehow keep pretty much everything that we accrue, this set is inspired by this weird little room in my house.

This set is named, "The Breezeway."

...and no you still can't see the design until the chips are done.

Thanks for reading!

I'm in for a chip set sample and dealer button. I love surprises. Assuming this is not an April Fool's Joke!:D

You won't know for a month or two whether or not it is I suppose  :whistling:

(It's not INTENDED to be a joke. It would be an expensive joke, but then again I'd probably be remembered. Hmm... )

(Ok it's not going to be a joke.)

I started adding some of the background to the set in post #2.

Post #1 should be current for samples. I added in @detroitdad @Ronoh and @Ray-Col as well as they've all helped along the way, you're all welcome to samples of the chips at no charge if you want them. Of course @Quicksilver-75 yours + a button are on the house as well :)

I won't have any photos to post within 30 days (I think this is when you can stop editing non-OP posts) so I'll continue the story on post #3, and add photos to the OP when I have them. I'm pretty long-winded, so I'll add cliffs to posts 2 and 3 eventually.

Post #3 has been updated with most of the rest of the story behind the set.

I'm a little bummed at the lack of interest in samples but it's understandable given the lack of details and edge spots.

I'll still update with any progress the set receives, and let everyone know once I figure out the final pricing and when payments will be collected/where to send them.

Thanks everyone!

If anybody read any of the above, they know that I'm impatient.

I have an opportunity to put in all of my orders sooner than expected, and I'm going to take that opportunity.

Anybody requesting a sample after 10:00pm EDT tonight is not guaranteed one as the orders will be placed based on today's numbers. OP should be up to date with requests.

Sample orders are closed, @David Spragg and @OldWestPokerSupplies are now the proud owners of all of my money

I can still take an interest list for those who may want a sample if I end up with extras, but only the first 15 listed are guaranteed to get what they requested. All of the buttons are spoken for.

I'll work on getting a final price as soon as I can. I paid for everything already, but I won't collect any money until everything is in my possession and ready to ship.

Well...shit. I missed this sale, apparently. In any case, I'd love to be on the wait list for samples, please! No need for buttons or extras.

I've added you to the main list. Based on the number I've ordered and samples set aside for family/friends, I will have at least enough to cover your sample.

I've updated the OP with total prices, I will not be requiring money until the chips/buttons are in my hands. I've already paid the money for the chips/buttons, I don't mind waiting to get that money back. If someone backs out the worst thing that happens is I end up with more of my own chips/buttons or I can make them available to others.

Edit - If you prefer to send the money now, I will accept payments immediately. Just know that payment is not REQUIRED until I receive the chips/buttons. This is totally your call!

If you are coming to the Windy City Blowout, I can bring your sample with me to save on shipping, assuming they arrive before then. Please just let me know and I'll adjust the total in the OP.

I'm not expecting these chips until at least June. Now the waiting begins...

Everybody who has ordered a sample before this post and follows through with payment will get a special bonus surprise as well ;)

Sorry, I made one more edit.

Payment is absolutely not required until I receive the products in hand.

That being said if you would prefer to pay now or sooner than when they arrive, I won't stop you. Sometimes I am the same way and would rather get something paid for ahead of time. I can accept payments whenever it is convenient for you guys, just PM me with a request for my PayPal address if you don't have it already.

I can't tell if it's just general boredom or the amount of time I'll be waiting for these chips, but I'm already considering increasing the size of my order

In more exciting news, the prototype of the dealer button is done already and should be here shortly. I'll probably be childish and post a teaser pic with parts of the button blocked out, so, yeah... I guess you guys have that to look forward to.

I'll give you the edge of the button :p

I will say that the print quality on this prototype is absolutely amazing! Sal at OWPS does incredible work, and I just can't say enough about Steve's design.

My wife has decided she no longer wants to wait for the chips to arrive to be surprised, coincidentally on the day I received my prototype button and she will be able to actually see a design in person :cautious:

Given that she may have to wait another 2 months to see any chips, and that I'm a weak man who does what my wife says most of the time, the design will be unveiled to her tonight. She still won't see the actual chips until they come, and she won't know the colors/denoms chosen or the exact inlays of the chips.

That being said, the design is finalized and all orders are already in. Sample orders are closed, and I'm not adding more onto the set. There is no more input to be had from anybody, and this design is not going to change in any other way (aside from a small color tweak to the button after seeing the prototype).

Unless it's met with protest from the people who ordered samples, I'll release a full photo of the button only in this thread later on tonight. The rest of the set (colors, denoms, chip inlays) will still be kept as a surprise until the chips arrive.

She seemed to like it, but I know part of her was disappointed that our cats weren't on it.

It's our house. This house was built in 1950, and many casinos in the '50s would put their building on their inlay designs. That's where the design idea started and it has evolved into this dealer button.

Hats off to @Quicksilver-75 and @OldWestPokerSupplies for making this happen!
