The accusation that the woman you love is only with you because of money is akin to saying that she sleeps around imo - it plays on the same insecurities of being inadequate, or not being loved back in the same way. Personally, if DNeg already had those thoughts or insecurities in the back of his head and someone were to poke that fire, I could see why it would rile him up.

All that said, banning him for that rant is exaggerated imo, but ultimately not surprising given the "cancel culture" that's so prevalent these days.

I HIGHLY doubt Doug Polk wanted to get Daniel banned. First of all, it doesn't line up with his overall world view given his political tendencies. Second, why would you want one of your favorite people to make fun of banned from the platform you take a lot of your video of him from?

He streams on YouTube as well. Being banned from Twitch isn't going to result in any less footage (unless Daniel stops streaming altogether because of this)...

With most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle here. I feel like Doug fought the good fight with the More Rake is Better crusade. But this subsequent trolling really is nothing more than shock value and hollow entertainment. But since Doug is done with poker in general, he can do little jabs like this with really no repercussions from anyone in the industry. Will he cross a line that Daniel pursues him legally? Remains to be seen, but I give Doug more credit to do something like that.

As for Daniel, I think a parallel (not completely identical mind you) can be drawn between him and Joe Exotic of Tiger King infamy. They both started out as small time in their respective fields, but as their fame and success rose, they needed more and more money to keep up their appearances and lifestyles. People will always try to shoehorn their way into that lifestyle for their own betterment, regardless of the circumstances. Now will Daniel send a hitman to off Doug? With how topsy-turvy 2020 has been, nothing is off the table.

Should Doug leave Daniel alone not having any skin in the game anymore? Maybe, but free speech is there for you to use. Is Daniel a genial person when meeting fans but also two-faced because of his corporate masters keeping his wallet fat (both Stars and GGPoker) and he really has no other way to go through life if he wants to keep all he has? Certainly.

It's not like this is new behavior from Doug though. You can go after someone and still not want them to get banned. Doug has had ample opportunity to accomplish a ban if that was his goal. He has no shortage of content at Daniel's expense.

Before I rub people the wrong way: I agree that Daniel had plenty other ways of reacting that did not involve inserting anything in anyone's anal or other cavities.
