Surprised the star is the favorite. Does nothing for me.
I think there's a slight boost factor given two designs (vs people having to choose based upon a single), but does feel like a good basic mold and pretty versatile whereas some of the molds I'm concerned about broader use.

Wouldn’t the texture be better on the other Star mold though? Instead of just the outline of the star? Might have more grip, I don’t know. You’re the pro.
Nope. Based on the real-world debossed polyclay and hybrid examples we have available, an outline mold provides better grip than a debossed image mold. There's also more chip weight with outlines, which is a contributing factor.

Hybrids: web > greek > plain > scrown
Debossed: diamond > script > plain > cards

Also it was listed/shown first, which could make a difference

Would be interesting to see a new poll with only results with 30+ votes in a different order

It's funny, I came into this dead set on Stars as I thought it was more versatile, and hated the idea of Jester. But the more I think about it, I can't think of a star mold design that I'd actually buy. But on the other hand, Jester would be fantastic for BTP, or some of the old school designs in lieu of something classic like a horseshoe.

Perhaps, maybe.... if it were an outline jester hat.
Yeah, I get the arguments on weight/grip, but curious on how much the average buyer prioritizes that over the aesthetics. Web/greek about as close as it gets to best of both worlds, but tough to see more of those coming.

Personally I think I lean a bit more heavily into form over function though, so I'm likely an outlier. Ha

I don't really know if doing the outlines of the jester hat would hurt the appearance much. I also don't know how much it would help the function, either.

For people buying Tina chips? I seriously doubt you’re an outlier.

But I appreciate Dave’s thoughts. I’d never really considered that outline vs debossed issue, but it could go a long way in explaining why I think the Greek hybrids are so fantastic feeling and the cards molds were unremarkable at best.

Am I the only person who thinks the greek and web hybrids are really slippery? In my experience, the Scrowns and RHCs stack much better than either of those? Maybe I'll have to revisit my samples.

Well, we are the pretentious 1% of the poker world.

I am not a watch guy at all. Once had a friend show me a Patek Philippe he probably paid high five figures for. The whole time he was going on about it all I could think was "What a waste. A $40 Timex would do the same thing.".

Then I think about how silly is it that I look at Chip Room sales and think "If only they were THC.".

I only have a sample of the 43s. They’re more slippery than any Paulsons I own, but that’s not really surprising, is it?
They’re less slippery than the sample I have of china clay royals, but that’s not surprising either.
They’re about what I expect from ceramics I guess, but also they feel great? I dunno, I’m probably just a sucker for 43s.

How do the Greek and web hybrids stack relative to the cards mold?

To be clear though, Tina cards mold is non-hybrid (/textured), so not really possible to isolate deboss contribution to slipperyness given not a true A-B, right?

How do the Greek and web hybrids stack relative to the cards mold?
No spinners, because of the recessed center. Tina card molds are ok, but expect a fair amount of spinners. By comparison, the Sunfly card and diamond molds have near zero spinners.

I’m sure somebody else is better suited to answering that. I’ve merely played with sample stacks of each and I no longer have the cards mold samples.
But off the top of my head, by our snooty PCF standards? I’d give the 39mm cards mold like 4 out of 10 and the 43mm Greeks like a 7 or a 7.5.
The cards molds are still a big upgrade over plastic 20 cent chips.
