I had the pleasure of receiving an invite to play with LowerBama1714 this weekend. We have a common buddy that invited me. My buddy said, “Man you’ll like this guy…he’s really into poker chips.” I had no idea! 
I was overwhelmed with Josh’s chip and gaming collection. Absolutely world class. I told him about my first set of chips and he said I had to post the story on here. I never even knew there was a forum for poker chips!
I attended the University of South Alabama from 95-99 and we had the best card game HANDS DOWN! I was hooked from the first game. We played a mixed game of Holdem, Omaha HL, and Stud HL. We played 4-8 limit with a half kill. We played almost every day for four years. My future wife got the set of Paulson’s chips below for me while we were dating in college. We are both originally from Mississippi and she went to the Paulson’s store in Gulfport. They literally had a storefront and you could buy anything that was in a casino. This was before Katrina and we went into the store looking around a few times. The place was literally like a candy store. I remember the first time I went in there I just looked around and said “Wowwwww…” Like a kid in Disney World for the first time.
The stories of the games these chips have been in would be heavily censored on here and most of us had “virtual NDAs” knowing we would all be productive leaders in our communities with families and kids. We were lucky there wasn’t social media back then!
I added a few Elephant and Crown chips for higher limits and because I’ve always loved that design.
Great host and a great game. Lowerbama is first class all the way. I hate NLHE with an absolute passion but I managed to squeak out a win and make some new friends in the process while drinking some great red wine!
