Nice Harry Potter mold.

How bout we do a THC mold with 7 or 9THC’s and a short cane? That would be much better and totally differentiated from a casino chip.

I don't feel like any of them except the Greek are that different from cards mold to be a huge improvement. I'm not in love with the greek in the examples but have seen enough variations of it that I think we could come up with something that works well. I'm certainly eager to see how they would come out.

It just feels like we've become a copy culture here. First we copy every chip we like onto a ceramic, and now we want to copy molds that we like?
Create a NEW mold if you want. But I'll continue to suggest that we stop copying stuff.
Then make an actual suggestion. We've had several of these "new Tina mold" threads. We get a few ideas, but rarely do any get any traction. So please grace us with your brilliance. We are hungry for all your "better" ideas.

At least Justin took the initiative to put together several ideas and organize this poll. As well as starting the discussions with Tina. Who else is doing that? And more importantly, he has gotten her to hold off on developing a hat & cane mold. That alone is a HUGE victory, in my opinion. If we don't provide her with a new idea of some sort that will generate new sales for her, then she is likely to go back to hat & cane, since I know there are some here on PCF pushing her for it.

I also assume Justin is going to take the lead in organizing the actual GB once we have a completed design. Are you willing to do that? It's so easy for some of you to come into a thread like this and criticize. If you're going to critique the work that others are doing, at least have the decency to make a real alternative suggestion. Armchair critics are a dime a dozen, and typically provide zero actual value.

I think basing a mold on something we have seen before is more likely to gain traction. We all look fondly at the classic old casino molds, so something totally new may not be as widely accepted.

Eye of Horus mold...
Dollar Bill mold...
Pyramids mold...
Candy canes mold...
Monkey mold...
Corsage mold...
Heart mold...
Sword mold....
"D" mold (for donkey of course)

Off the top of my head I can imagine no less than 50 ideas for a mold with an object as the focus. I like the greek mold because it's a repeating pattern, and i think in general my eye is attracted to patterns before objects on a poker chip.

So... maybe decide if the new mold should be:
1. an object or a pattern
2. If a pattern, new or classic?
3. If an object, new or classic?

If it looks cool enough, people will hop on board.

Would love a quill. But don't know how well it would work.

I think based on the poll, we already have a pretty clear winner. Over 170 PCFers have voted. It's awfully hard to get over 50% when a group is picking from 5 different choices. It seems like we are past the selecting stage and on the the details of the design stage.

I'm thinking the greek mold is appealing for the aforementioned reasons. Most other options feel like eight [object(s)] around the ring, Greek is a pattern and stands out.

I know, I'm a hypocrite since my suggestion was eight symbols too, but at least they were connected by a line xD

CIRCLES & STICKS. Completely wholesome as well.

This is candid and made me laugh.

She does not need new idea to stop developping the H&C mold. She need the guarantee to generate $$ with new orders.

And do you really think she'll spit on a huge order involving the H&C mold the second after she gets the cash from this new mold (Greek Key) order ?

They are running a business. I don't see them refusing a big order / cash revenue for her company for morale reasons ?

If I recall correctly, moral is not highly prioritized at that company. Didn't they start selling PCF designs as stock more than once?

The only reason I can see for them holding off on making a H&C mold is fear of repercussions by GPI.

I really doubt GPI could do anything since they operate in China.

FIAT could not even prevent a chinese company from copying their 500.

Indeed. Several designs I created for PCF members (and even one of mine) were directly offered on their website.

Casa de Mango from @Eloe2000 was even offered sold as stock and semi-custom option.

So indeed, moral is not very high prioritized in this comany.

If you don't care your art being stolen / reused, then it's still a valid option to consider though.

LEGO managed to get several copycat factories close. When there's will (and money), there's a way. And I do believe there would be both in this case, as it's one of the key features of this line at GPI.

Unless I'm mistaken, no one said Tina has stopped for morale/moral reasons, rather she'd develop our mold with guaranteed business over further developing the HC one.

Just keeping us on the rails, I dont think @TX_Golf_N_Poker has any illusion that Chinese companies will have a Grinch moment where their heart grows several sizes.
Maybe I missed this somewhere in the thread but in regards to Greek key mold was it discussed what size since there is SGK, MGK, and LGK?

Yeah, a page or so of discussing that.

I know there would be no actual texture involved but @italstylz and @Machine both did faux molds in the design on no mold blanks. They both look really good to me. Since cards mold are so inexpensive it’s a way for everyone to get exactly what they want. Again, clearly no actual texture but I would prefer the look of something over the texture for Tina chips. This would also help for the color variance in the mold/grooves.

Those diamonds look really good, at least from that angle.

Rant all you want, I understand ranting. But don’t act like I’m the bad guy for offering some common sense advice like “stop copying stuff.”
If you put up a poll asking the best way to rob a bank, and I suggested that you not rob the bank, would you rant that I didn’t suggest a better way to rob a bank, and yell at me because I’m not willing to help you rob the bank? Yeah maybe you would. But it doesn’t make me the asshole.

Probably doesn’t matter cause it seems pretty lopsided, but the Greek key is my second least favorite (the suits just gives me dice chip vibes). As mentioned by others Greek key is too distracting and niche. I held my nose and picked cigar. If it were up to me I’d pick something kinda iconic yet obscure. Like a circus tent of umbrella. Simple and recognizable, but gives off casino/monopoly/carnival vibes.
