Just keeping this out there - there are several different stock ceramics that I liked enough to buy as a playing set of my own, but didn't, strictly because they were not printed edge-aligned.

Even some where the edge-alignment is much less important than on this set. For example, I really like the Venerati design from SidePot - but can't handle the unaligned spots. It's not even obvious on most of the denoms, but on the $1 sample I have it just screams "wrong!" (to me.) The design on the Archetypes has an edge that doesn't "require" alignment, but the edge spot design suggest clay-like edge spots, and they look wrong unaligned (to me.) I know the price would be higher if these were aligned... but I wonder how many other sales like me they lose from people who can't help seeing the unaligned chip as a shoddier item.

New prototype pics just in.....

I'm surprised how close the orange is to the red, but as one is a tourney and the other mid-cash, and is five denoms up (200x value), it's not really a concern. The blues are also very close in color, but the denoms even wider.

I'm OK with the purple and green, although they seem a bit dark in comparison to some of the other colors. I do like that the black is so nice and black.

And I really like how the red/white/blue/pink all pop on the cash side, and it has me re-thinking my order YET AGAIN. On the tourney side, my orange-blue-gold 100-piece "Asian Turbo Tourney" set is looking pretty great, too. Oh, if only cash were more plentiful...

These would be really great working chips for a $.50/$1 game (with blue/white/red) or a $.25/$.50 game (with pink/white/red)...

I will be getting a cash set 25¢/$1/$5/$20. I also noticed the blues and red/orange were closer then expected, but would not be a problem since they would not on the table at the same time.

Dayum...if I weren't working towards a set of my own, I'd be strongly considering a set of these. Dem colors lookin' sharp, and if those pics are truly representative then the edges are awesome!

Pictures can be deceiving, what do you think of the colors? Any issues?

The T1000 and $5 chips are very hard to tell apart but that doesn't matter since they will never be on table at the same time obviously. IMO I do not see any color issues.

The alignment of the face to the edge spots looks better than I expected. The only one that looks off is the T100. I'm impressed. Depending on the pictures, the T500 and T5000 look like they could be close. In the last picture (100 & 500 chips), the 500 chip looks like it might be close to the blue. In the others, they aren't close at all. Are they close, or is that just a trick of the lighting?

Guess I'll know when I get the sample chips. Can't wait. :D

The room I work in is usually dark.

Should we ask to make the T1000 a little more orange and $5 a little deeper red just to be safe (also to make sure not too close to pink)? I know they won't conflict with each other since they won't used at the same time, but would like to make sure they are orange and red.

p5woody - is the red of the denom the same as the red of the $5? If so, then looking at the T1000 chip, we can contrast the two colors immediately.

Also, a note on color match: if two items look the same under a particular light, it's not a "trick of the lighting..." they really do look the same under that particular light. Sometimes a flash makes the colors in the picture different than you see when the flash is off, but that's because the flash is usually whiter (bluer) than your room lighting. If you turned up a strong white light, the color would match in the room, too.

It's an inevitable problem trying to match pigments. Remember, that's a big part of why casinos like multi-colored spots & labels on chips. You can try to paint a $1 to look like a $100, but if you go in a back room and compare real and painted $100's under two different lights, they may match in one, but won't match in the other.

You could make the T1000 more orange like the PCF T5000. Right now its like orange-red.
