I believe the issue is setup fees and proof approval. Often times the design doesn’t line up properly and needs to go through a process of trial and error to get it right. This takes time and may even cost more.
If I were you, I would get in touch with @lrapley, who has done a couple of the BYO design group buys and see if he’s planning to do another anytime soon.
