Just because your girlfriend isn't taking advantage isn't the real issue. If I were a guest and got cleaned out, it would be a thought, and I probably would not return.

I also have not returned to games that regularly allow...
  • rabbit hunting
  • players to discuss their hands
  • string betting
  • tournaments using dice chips
  • self dealt games where players to choose not to cut the deck
So the cell phone thing - it would be one more way that I could see people I didn't know very well possibly cheating me. Money, even $20, is something that someone out there would try to steal.

You can allow it if you like, but before you get defensive, be aware you are on the opposite side of the rules.

Then again, I can go 2 minutes without being on my phone, and I would never be as rude as to ignore the table to play a phone game. I guess I'm just don't have the Millennial mindset.
So...You're saying that you won't be playing in Josh's game. Got it.

Well, I don't think you'd have fun at our game. It's about being friends and enjoying the night. There is no rule books, fights, bickering, even trolling past talking crap during football and maybe some jabs about bad calls. (That's my specialty, making bad calls)

I play to have fun, it's the same group and no one is at the table making sure no one is cheating, were friends and I just deal the cards.

But hey, you do you, if that's what makes a game for you. We just love our game for what it is. I guess I just don't distrust friends for using there phone, even if they are millennials.

I implicitly trust the friends I play with. But they know if they were caught cheating, that they wouldn't be welcome back. It's written in black and white that there's an absolutely zero tolerance cheating policy. That being said, my home game is very social. I did institute a "no phone while active in a hand" rule, and everyone was ok with it. People can still collude after folding to help another person still in the hand by giving away their cards, but I don't have any suspicions at all once so ever. The people that win and lose in a given night is always different.

If I don't trust ya, I don't want you in my house looking at my dog. She's precious.

I don't think that's likely.

Self proclaimed troll gets super defensive about phones. So I chose to troll the troll.

I got him going onto 2 pages now... and it was hilarious, then Wedge went and won the derail.

Wow. Never really thought I was defensive. But hey, whatever gets ya off.

I just consider being on your phone rude. I don’t worry about cheating with my circle, but if you’re on your phone in front of me whether it’s out for coffee, beers or playing poker... you’re off my island.

Heh, not today for me. He apparently thought it was something, i just thought a few of us bullshitted and went back to chipping. Who knows, I'm going back to the Havana Chips.

And here I was about to pop another bag of corn...

It's not a possible fight. In 2017 the TDA rules that players may not use their phone at the table. In 2019, they reversed the decision - largely because the WSOP wanted to get online players while sitting at a live game.

I think it's terrible, and I am with those that think it's rude. However, Josh has a legitimate fear that nobody would play at his game if they couldn't play Scrabble on their phone and had to listen to him make jabs about their bad calls and some football crap.

I've asked nicely at my game and never had anyone quit, get upset, or bicker but YMMV. He admits that just he "deals the cards", and makes sure no
none checks to see if he is cheating in the $20 game, where he has taken one opponent for $4,000.

You are still talking and literally everyone is back to chipping. It's okay buddy....we won't have any fun on your watch....

If my friends wouldn’t put down their phones at the table they wouldn’t be friends.
I mean, if you’ve got a sitter, a work thing on the go, sure, check it.
However, if you’re playing angry birds at the table... why are you even here?
Josh, I guess the point is, why do you have to be in your phone to have “fun”? Is your social group not interesting enough to talk to? And if you’re playing poker for money, I’d be watching the game and learning the opponents.
But hey, we’re all different. That’s just my opinion.

First night of Team Poker League. Wound up with 10 teams playing on three tables. Went very well. We do need to work on the "no contact rule." The goal was to keep teammates from being on the same table so as to avoid any possible collusion. This proved problematic when we were playing short handed on the last two tables, just to keep teammates apart. Blinds were coming around way too fast. Next time I think we will combine tables when down to eight players. The problem is if teammates are together at a table, it is very easy to lay down a big hand if your teammate has moved all in or makes a large bet in front of you. We are learning as we go.

Not sure why my pic is washed out.

I really hope you make it to a meet-up someday. I suspect we would make a great comedy team. My eyes are literally tearing with laughter.

...and I'm old, so I use literally correctly.
I found out about the PNW one literally when it was happening or I would have made it. I told @Saoliver I'll make the next one. Hopefully with some new CPCs...

Could you run it as basically 2 separate events, and then merge the events when on the bubble?

I remember Saoliver well. Only played a little cash with him, and that was well after I was burned-out for the weekend, but he was a good dude.

I didn't see him on his phone though.
