Magic. Need to go and check out what Matrix is.

I am pretty sure Krish just invented it. Start with a 4 card omaha hand. You have to play two of those cards at the end. Then you get a 3 card “flop” at the bottom. You have to play exactly one of those three cards. Then a two card “turn”. Have to play exactly one of those two cards. Then a single card “river” that you have to play to complete your five card hand. Here’s what the board looks like:

Sounds interesting, I like it. I'll suck at it, but sounds interesting.

Absolutely no chance any of my players will cope with that. A few hours into a game and they struggle to bite their own fingernails  :ROFLMAO:

This is why I steer clear away from mixed games! Between two hole cards and five community cards, NLHE is already hard enough!

That said, it does seem mixed games are a staple of any good meet-up!

This looks fun. As a few have said I think I'd struggle to get some of our regs playing this without their brains melting.
I guess this could also work using 2 cards and it being a slight variation of NLHE? Or is it more the 4 starting cards giving you more choice

Don't forget about the part where better rolls two dice while singing the hokey pokey. A 7 or 11 means you get a wild card if it is an even day of the month, while the guy to your right gets the wild card if it is an odd day, unless it's February, when it goes to the button.

I need to call a software company to build me a GTO solver for these games.

No wonder you guys pound bourbon at these meets. :)

The 4 starting cards gives you a little flexibility as the board narrows. Draws are harder to play since you have to hit the river to complete. There are never made flushes or straights before the river; always drawing and hoping the river doesn’t screw you. A couple times I had super draws — a wrap to a straight and two flush draws. But the river came a brick and my hand that was good with over 50% of the cards on the river just turned to Ace high.

We have a player in my game that has pretty promptly checked out for the night due to introducing mixed games. They’re not everybody’s forte. I’m not super crazy about them, but I do like to have them thrown in to break the monotony or get some fireworks going if there isn’t much action on the table. I think there’s a balance you have to find when your players aren’t big on stuff like that. End of the day, the chance factor goes up significantly and it ends up coming down to you choosing the best hole cards that’ll help you “get luckier” as the board unfolds, no pun intended. You’re not going to be remotely close to getting good reads on your opponents due to so many cards in play, unless the board speaks volumes and you can make a close guesstimate as to what they’re holding.

NLHE for the W, mixed games if you’re feeling bored.

So the nuts is quad 3s? I guess jacks full is pretty good to?

Yeah krish bet the pot with air, which would have pretty much put the others all in, and that took down that massive pot. Pocket tens and pocket kings both folded. A 3, or pocket 8s, 9s or Js all beat those boats so those guys folded to the shove.

Mixed and circus games have their place. I usually have a dealer's choice cash game specifically for those that want to degen and play anything outside of NLHE. I also have dedicated regular NLHE cash nights too. All tournaments are NLHE as well.

I honestly don't know how you all play hi/lo and other split pot games. If it's too confusing for me it's definitely too confusing for my usual crew lol.

I like circus games, but hi hand games only. Pineapple, PLO, Big O hi, God's Game Hi are where it's at for me. I really like the idea of Matrix, though I'd likely only play it as a high hand game.

All depends on who’s at the game and who enjoys it. 90% of the time, strictly NLHE, the other 10% is when we do mixed with mostly high only variation. I may get critiqued for saying this since all games consist of gambling to a certain degree but mixed games are almost strictly that. The lower the stakes when playing them the better, because things get out of hand very quickly and massive swings ensue. I love NLHE 2/5, it’s the sweet spot for me and have made good money from it. If you ask me, would I play mixed games at 2/5, my answer would be a very resounding FUCK NO! lol

But most hands get made on the river soooooo let’s gambol......
U might as well play tic tac too too, matrix on steroids. Dealt 5 cards, u will use 2 from ur hand. Flop is dealt the 3 middle card down (need to see the middle card on the flop as it is the most important). Turn is dealt 3 left hand cards down and river is 3 right hand cards down. U can use the best column/row of 3 cards (including diagonal) to make ur hand. Played hi low so it’s a split pot game. 6 of the 8 hands get made on the river. Nobody folds ever. Pots are always big. It’s a shit show. Sounds perfect for ur game!

Best way to describe it. If you’re drunk and you feel like making your $$$ multiply or just plain burn it, play this kinda stuff all night haha

I love mixed games, I'm just learning some of of them but PLO, lazy and crazy Pineapple are staples at our games, as well as bomb pots. They're fun, but not distracting.

However, no offense, but having to use that last card makes it very gambly. You don't have to be a hold'em nationalist to think that might be going a bit far. I mean, we don't play Uno at our home games either. ;)

Lol i use to be a holdem only player. But once i learned how to play the split pot games how the variance works (its not just bingo) it makes the game so much more enticing to play and makes holdem a dull affair. Granted our league is made up of mostly holdem tournaments but our cash games are almost always dealers choice unless we have a full table of holdem players. Dont use the 10 card tomahawk as an example.... that one is a straight gamble lol. Im talking about Big-O, scrotum, 6 Card high low, double board PLO. Any time you add a wild card or have half the deck in your hand its just for fun lol

I was more talking about Matrix, the game mentioned above where you HAVE to use the last card for your hand.

I love double board games, PLO etc.
