The slow grind....

just the night?? that ridiculousness would go in the record books here.
Short deck poker only had 36 cards instead of the usual 52 so that increase the odds by a lot plus limping is very common so you see a lot more flops compared to NLH

Boats are easier to get and ranked lower than flush in short deck, straight are often the average winning hand at showdown

that makes WAY more sense lol.

we once (waaaaay back in the day) played an entire level of a tournament with a pinochle deck before we finally realized why every hand was so juicy.

My monthly cash game has been running very regularly lately, and I couldn't be more happy about it.

Tonight we had eight players, mostly thanks to a friend who also hosts and brought a couple of his regs with him. My commit list went from 10 to 6 to 8 to 6 to 8 over the past three days - it was incredibly frustrating.

But the game was a good one. I got a couple of likely new regs, and I'm continuing to build my list back up to pre-COVID levels. I'm not happy about my results, but I've been making up for it by crushing another local game.

Tonight I was in for 100 and out for 85, and we also killed a bottle of Eagle Rare and about $50 worth of snacks. I was sitting on a small win for a while, until I ran my first AA in a month into a set on a T84dd flop. Villain is tight, solid, and never bluffing when he bet-shoves the flop, so after a 3-4 minute tank, I fold and he shows me 88. I'll take saving $100 with a good fold as a victory tonight.
