Another night of .25/.50 in the garage, but this time the topper and the plaques to complete my low limit trop set made things look way better! Big thanks to @rjdev7 for the topper and @timinater and @justincarothers for the plaques!

Game started with 8 people in for $100 each.

At the end we had $6,100+ in play.

.50/.50 ROE with matching half stack

Somehow no one was up or down more than $300ish

No weak links or weak hearts in this lineup. Fellas came to play!

In high school we coined the term MEV (maximum extraction value). When we would lose we would raid the friends kitchen to MEV, so even if we lost $20 we would eat $25 of food.

Looks like you MEVed hard there. Would be funny if it’s your own spread though!

Had a bit of a heater going for a while last night at Hitmen Poker League. Cracked kings with AK. Then cracked Jack's the very next hand. Then later cracked Aces with Pocket a queens by making quads on the river.

Final table unraveled a bit and ended up fourth. Was a fun night!

Dave, a poker player from Friday nights $1/$1 dealer's choice NLHE/PLO game asked Hero at the beginning of the year if he could get him a seat in Tuesday's $1/$2 NLHE game. Hero obliged. Five to six weeks pass and Dave calls Hero to tell him how much he enjoys playing cards with the group from Tuesday's game. To show his appreciation, he invites Hero out to dinner at the nicest restaurant in town (there is not many to choose from) and picks up the tab.

Hero reciprocates two or three weeks later. This pattern of getting together for lunch every two or three weeks continued through the last half of winter to the present, with each of us taking turns picking up the tab. Saturday, Dave shows up at Hero's house in his 66, 502 six speed Chevelle.

We cruised down the coast to have fried Maine sea scallops at an ocean-side restaurant. The Chevelle is such a fun ride. Comfortable, American made and built to last, you want to spend your days out on the open highway.

Dave, who is retired, plays in a $60 two table NLHE tournament on Sunday's that is 70 minutes from Hero's house. Hero made the journey a couple of times, but the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. Eating scallops, Hero is turning over in his head how receptive Dave might be to Hero going to Sunday's game with him in his Chevelle.

As if on cue, Dave asks, "Do you want to play in the tournament Sunday, I will pick you up in the Chevelle."

Who says Poker Gods aren't real?

Half the players from Friday's $1/$2 cash game play in Sunday's tournament. You find out what people think of you when you show up unexpected. The first player to arrive asked the host who invited Mojo. lol!

Hero quietly paid Dave's way into the tournament. At break, Hero had the third biggest chip-stack at his table. The tournament came down to Hero, Hal -- who is a regular in Tuesday's game -- and an unknown. The host and a half a dozen other players who had busted out were playing $1/$2 NLHE in the adjacent room. Shortly after we got down to three, Hal eliminated the third player, leaving the two of us to play heads-up. Hero didn't waste any time throwing out an offer to Hal: "You take $400 and I will take $420."

Hal: "Wait a minute. Don't I have more chips than you?"

Hero, seeing Hal taking an inventory as he is stacking his chips, proceeds to count out his chips. It becomes obvious rather quickly the disparity between Hero's stack and Hal's.

Hero: "Alright, you take $420 and I will take $400."

Hal: "That doesn't seem fair."

Hero, in a firm voice: "Hal. you can take $420 and let me have $400, or we can play it out."

Hal, rather reluctantly: "Okay."

Respect: Agreeing to a $420/$400 split when you have 32 big blinds while your opponent is sitting on 22 big blinds.

*******

The Monte Carlo's took Hero on a trip down memory lane to when he use to attend a weekly $50 two table tourney in the early 2010's.

Hero lost most of his original $200 buy in early on when he ran three jacks into fours full. (The above picture was taken mid-way through the evening.)

Worked out okay in the end.

In for $400, out with $900. (Hero lost $45 trying to steal a pot on the river in heads up play against a non-believer on one of the final hands of the night.)

Dave won $630 in the cash game. The best part? Hero was able to kick back and enjoy the night's ride home on the empty highway in Dave's 66 Chevelle.

After months of scheduled games with folks not able to make it due to early work commitments and just general life getting in the way, it was becoming obvious the 15+ year running mid-week poker night was becoming unsustainable. A player pool that was semi-nocturnal has become a group of much more diurnal. I made the executive decision to try a bigger buy-in game less frequently as more of an "event" and to switch to Sunday early afternoon. There are long time regulars in the group who make a chunk of their pay on Saturday (industry friends and folks who work an offset work week), so Sunday made the most sense.

As a first go, we went to a 0.25/0.25 blinds game and let it rip! Five players and just over four hours of a game that I missed. Standard tasteless jokes and plentiful trash talk. In for $40 and out for $75. A few pics from the night.

My first custom set (expanded a lot from the start) The Lounge on the historic H-mold, in play.

My stack nearly at the high point for the night:

Small but awkward chopped pot with the 7 being high card (it was two smaller pocket pairs IIRC, which threw the brakes on the betting post turn):

Painful out-housing with kings full of 9s beating 9s full of kings:

A hand late in the session. Small stack trying to get information flashing a card heads up before deciding if he wanted to call a big bet:

All told, the switch to a Sunday game was well received. Probably going to go to 0.25/0.50 blinds with a $60 buy-in as a couple players couldn't wrap their heads around having two equal blinds. (These are also the folks who refuse to play anything but hold'em, so one puts up with what one has to work with! :ROFLMAO:)

It was just nice to finally host a game and play some cards for a while.

We had a perfect double-sunday poker event at a wonderful location out in the green.
Outdoor/indoor game, BBQ + nice weather is nuts and tons of fun. We all had a geat day!

I managed to get the set ready to play, and everyone loved the chips and cards!!
I was not the banquier, but he made sure that the fat hats get in play asap! ; )
Tried different decks of cards - most players still preferred poker size…

Hand of the day: Full boat
Card of the day: Jack of diamonds

JD was the ultimate action card and always good for a big pot.
First time i managed to play the whole session with only one 100 buy-in.

Here‘s the set, and some snapshots of the game:

Love the chips. But curious about the table mat. Is that a carpet runner?

Hosted a short handed cash game yesterday. Started off horrendously and was down $240 in the first 90 minutes of our "friendly" $.25/.25 cash game.

Ended up clawing my way back and cashed out up slightly.

Also need to find me some more Gemaco Super flex cards. Everyone loved these Hollywood cards, but I only ordered 1 setup.

In for $280 Out for $320

Love your Paris chips. Way to claw back too!

We celebrated the end of our second season this past weekend with our Main Event Championship Tournament. Our M.E. Tournament is a deep stack event where the top 10 players in our league start with half a million in chips and battle it out to see who takes home the championship bracelet.
