What is the difference between a home game, a casino run game, and a PCF game?I am always tweaking things a little to figure out how to make it more enjoyable for my friends and run smoother for me. That itself is a fun hobby! Poker night has quickly become the highlight of my month and enjoy seeing all the different ways people run their games here.
The PCF host uses a chip set with 10c chips worth $7 a piece. For the players enjoyment…What is the difference between a home game, a casino run game, and a PCF game?
- The home game host thinks about the game a few hours before guests arrive. They don't have a budget, because they aren't going to spend enough to entertain the thought. The mantra is: "What can go wrong"
- The casino host thinks about the game between the time they were hired, and the time their first day ends. Provided nothing changes or went wrong, they will never think about it again - and if something went wrong, they ask "how much did the error cost" before they address the problem. Much of their planning done for them by the previous host, so very little else needs to be done. They spend most of their budget, but was hopes for a bonus because they are under-budget. The mantra is: "If it's not broke, don't fix it"
- The PCF game host thinks about their set-up constantly. They spent their budget, increased their budget, and then went over that. They came here to improve a game that may not have even started yet. They keep reading threads, getting ideas, and implementing them to the best of their ability. The mantra is "get samples", because something else might be better.
I don’t feel attacked, I feel like I got invited to go for a “walk” with the cousins on thanksgiving. What is the difference between a home game, a casino run game, and a PCF game?

I was up to 2 tables for my last monthly cash game! Many thanks to PCF and most importantly @Chris Manzoni for the inspiration and videos that helped turned a poker dream into what you see here.
We started the evening with a 45 minute dinner and catching up before drawing cards for seating. Turned out to be a lively night with some big action for a .5/.10 game…multiple all-in pots with one getting up to over $80. Our normal cutoff time is around 11:30, but 4 of us got a second wind and played until 1:30AM.
My next game is expected to be the biggest yet with 16 players RSVP’d with 2 weeks until game date. I’ll swap the octagon table for a 6ft plastic table with a topper to accommodate everyone. I am always tweaking things a little to figure out how to make it more enjoyable for my friends and run smoother for me. That itself is a fun hobby! @Frank needs to change thatCongrats on a successful home game! I never see 2 cash tables at a time for any of the local games I know. 2-3 table tourneys all the time, but never cash.
