@ChaosRock buddy, please tell me this is just a rebranding thing and I don't need to run out and search for remnant bottles of Allardice and Parliament.....

3 bones for the 18?!?! Ouch! It sucks they are positioning themselves with the likes of Macallan.

It is still the same whisky though, Matt. They just dropped the names and changed the labels. To be clear, they are the same as the more recent Allardices, but not the same as pre ‘20. Those were much older than 18.

On sale too! :wtf: ;)

Good to know, thanks. I have a bottle and change of both the 18 and 21 from the "shuttered" days. Considering the new price tags, they will likely be hidden deeper in the cabinet moving forward lol.

And the new labels suck, the old ones were so classy!

Also, they launched a series called "Ode", with bottles resembling (sort of) the old label ones, using the same red, green and blurple, with whiskies that are non-age stated and with nothing to do with the 12 Original, 15 Revival and 18 Allardice.

Disingenuous at the very least, imo. Not a good look for Brown-Forman. They are unfortunately destroying the fantastic reputation Billy Walker built for Glendronach... Oh well...

Went to my first bottle share this weekend...

We warmed up with gold spot 9 vs 13. I'd never had any Irish or spots before...they may have gotten me into Irish...

This was the first fresh crack of the evening, let's just say it wasn't a standout...definitely has an incredible nose, the palette is just relatively simple.

The main event was the Jack Off!

These were the batch 2 10yr and 12yr. The 10yr was the first jack bourbon I've had that didn't have the aggressive red wine yeast fruit as the palate transitions to the finish - for me this is a note that really turns off my palate, but that's just a me thing. The 12yr was disappointing (haven't had batch 1 tho).

The mother ship deserves all the hype. I got a RR15 very late in the game and was blown away when it actually lived up to its hype... The 14 has tons of in your face oak, tannic bitter oak. Super punchy, with light cherry, butterscotch, and even some richer date and fig flavors that taste like they were covered in brown sugar. I did get the red wine yeasty note on the finish, but the oak did subdue it quite a bit. Very fortunate a friend was willing to crack his, they're not expected to hit in our area until the end of the month.

We later followed up with a flight of coy hills. My 2024 128 proof held up fairly well against the non-hazmat OG coy hills, but...someone brought their OG hazmat (i think 141+ proofer), that's solidly top 3 pours I've ever had. I think the general consensus was that the 14yr expressed more traditional slowly matured age than the more aggressive coy hills.

What do you do when whiskey hunting and you find your favorite cask strength rye for $20 a bottle less than normal? I'm sorta thinking maybe I should have taken a couple more. Also nice to see this Eagle Rare store pick on the shelf. Unfortunately, limited to one per customer. unless I do go back...
