Aren’t the proofs very similar?
I didn't look on the small batch, but the barrel strength i have is 108 proof. FWIW they put the age on the price tag for these, the b/s was listed at 2 y/o and the small batch at 3 y/o -- i haven't checked to see if that's right though

I just wanted to say today:

Question: How do you finish bottles you don’t like?
I can’t seem to finish these Belle Meades; Madeira, XO, and Sherry.

I told myself I wouldn’t open new bottles until I finished these. I really want to open some but I can’t finish these

so take a 9 out of 10 bottle, and mix it with a 1 out of 10 bottle?.....so i can get stuck with a 5 out of 10 bottle? I'd rather pour it down the drain and keep my 9s a 9

Question: How do you finish bottles you don’t like?

I think that's a great questions, man! Although I'm sure the answer to many will be 'drink them anyways'...

But I feel'ya... I don't remember having had a bottle of bourbon I felt the urge to drain pour, ever.

I did have a couple of Single Malts i did not care for at all. Thankfully, they were the cheapest bottles I had bought. Maybe that was the reason... They were not off-putting, they were just bland and uninspiring.

I tried to give those bottles a finished maturation in those mini-barrels. Tried with Sherry and tried with Port. Tried with Virgin Oak as well. They only got worse and I had spent way more money trying to save them. I thought about using for cocktails but for the past few years, if I'm drinking, I'm drinking whisky neat. Period. So they indeed went to the drain.

I still have bottles I'm gonna struggle to finish. Not because they are horrible but because I have many others I rather drink from instead.

Also, life is too short to drink something you don't really enjoy. It is already hard to find time and liver to drink the great stuff!!
