Guys, this is tough for me.... close.
Clearly from the same family. Both have good spice from start to finish. Both are also quite oaked (but balanced) with a drying finish.

For me, the Calumet 16 is a bit more sour. So I give the nod to SH15. But it’s close, and I could flip next time.

I’m picking the SH15 on aftertaste alone. The Calumet 16 has that bitter oaky aftertaste that’s a tad off putting. I get that with my Elijah Craig 18 year as well.

All that being said, these are two phenomenal whiskies and I’m lucky to be in a position to nitpick them

Brotha, SH15 kind of won on the nose...but Calumet 16 overtook. Then 15, then 16, then 15...........and it's 16 by a palate and finish. Lol

Calumet 16 wins barely...both are great.

As I finish the SH15, I keep getting more and more cherry. And I love cherry.

let me know cause I get facebook ads for it constantly
My first reaction is unsure. I don't trust the neck pour. I'm trying to tease out th flavors but they don't seem fully developed. It's not bad but I'm not getting a wow reaction either I get from bottles I love.

Any sign yet of this year's Maker's Wood Finishing Series bottles? They must be skunky if the plan is to release 2 per year and it's almost September and there are zero.

Revisiting the SH15 right now. It WAS a neck pour last night. I have a feeling once this bottle is 2 weeks old, I will flip my statement.
