Mrs Zombie's first attempt at clear cubes.

View attachment 1058524

The ice came out quite well. The four roses on the other hand...

Did you use the mini cooler trick?

I like a cube of ice in the summer when it’s hot outside but I find these cubes too big and they water it down too much. I bought 1” cubes instead and 1 cube is perfect for a @Highli99 pour

Pour #2, then I hit the rye. (Total Wine store pick)

You need a glass where the cube won't melt so quickly. These aren't sexy, but I can get several pours onto a 2" cube over the course of 90 minutes or so:

The glass is thick and durable, unlike the Norlan double-walled glasses, which I have never and will never buy because the glass is so thin I'm confident they would break.

I have these glasses. The double walled glasses don’t do it for me. I’ve been using these and I love them. They’re heavy, thick, nose well, and hold a lot. Also cheap

I gave a few away to people here who didn’t get in on the gb . I wanted to keep them all but decided to share the wealth. I’m sure someone will sell me a backup to a backup
Yeah I let 2 go to people and am down to 1 1/2 bottels left

It's in line with the cooler method, but for individual ice cubes

Uses a lot less space in the freezer. Once frozen, the blue sections can be removed to save even more space. It doesn't hurt that Total Wine gives us free gifts (as long as it's not alcohol), so it didn't cost us a dime for the experiment.

Down side, it melted more than a sphere. I wouldn't use it again on a top-shelf bourbon, but for a Maker's or JB I'd call it a fair option.

Awesome! Anything particular you're itching to try on the Bourbon/Rye side? I have over 200 open bottles...
Nothing immediately comes to mind however I won't claim to be as familiar with Bourbon/Rye as I am with Scotch or Irish. Maybe an example of what you'd use to 'sell' bourbon or rye to someone who wasn't familiar to the spirit?

Happy to send just the one sample but don't mind 'filling the box'. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to try from here:

I'll send an assortment of unique pours. You can send anything you you'd give to a friend that you were trying to turn on to scotch. I keep trying the classic Islays (Laphroig, Lagavulan, Ardbeg...)but can't get past the iodine notes.
