Has anyone tried this Don Papa Rum? They have a 7 and 10 year, but I hear that they are hard to find, at least here in Canada.

It’s definitely not bourbon and not tequila. Nice to have a third sipping option.

The beauty of aged rum is the price. 20+ yo bottles for under $100. I'm a fan of the Appleton Estates.

For the record I never even knew Bacardi quit making 151... I grew up on that stuff! Unfortunately it is open but I have a full bottle still, never drank from!
That probably 15 plus years old now. I hear they bring a pretty penny these days!
But I actually came to ask the southern boys if they have ever heard of Prichards Rum. This lonely bottle of peach is the only bottle I or my step dad have ever seen.i bought it in a hole in the wall liquor store in Tennessee. My step dad wanted it really bad! The owner said it was the only bottle they had left from old stock, it was covered in dust! We went home and cracked it and had a small pour each!
One of the best things I have ever tasted in my life... and never found a bottle since... I think it was like $45 - $50 circa 2005 found in Morristown TN.
My step dad told me it was a tiny Distillery in Tennessee and he looked for years also, never found another. Man I would buy a case in a heart beat!!

Omg.... how have I not seen this thread. Rum is my #1 then Bourbon.
For quantity I keep it basic and go with Captain Morgan. Top end favorite is Ron Zacappa, it’s aged in bourbon barrels and is amazing.
Not many rums can be drank straight up but Appleton 21 is one for me, picked some up on our way home from Jamaica.
Dos Maderas is one I recently found which is very good. Mount Gay XO is top notch.
Ron Abuelo series is another high end which has a very rich flavor

Regarding 151 Rum, I think the legal department convinced Bacardi to stop making it. But other companies have picked up the slack and you can still buy 151.

A 32oz, 50/50 Sailor Jerry/Diet Coke in a "Yeti"(or copy cat) tumbler lasts all the way until lunch on a good beach day. Beach days are my definition of why rum was created.
