So I've got samples from CPC coming in today. (YES!) I should oil them up, right? I imagine that they're coming in new chalkie condition. The reason for the samples is so I can compare the colors and I like my colors to pop. Would this hurt their value?

Seems to me that the value in samples is to help you determine exactly what you want your set to look like. If you're going to oil your customs, then you HURT the value of your samples (as far as their intended purpose goes) by not oiling them! I think you should use the tool as intended, and not worry about changing the value of them. My $0.02

It won't hurt their value, no. As for whether or not you should or shouldn't...well, I'll just leave this here.

Definitely oil your samples. Even if you don't plan to oil your customs when they arrive, the colors will brighten when your chips are played. So, unless you don't plan to play with your customs (yeah, right!), oiling samples is almost required.

Oil the samples. Oil your chips. Oil your girlfriend. Go throw some oil in the car while you're in an oiling mood. Pay no attention to those radical left-wingers, oil is good.

I've had no more constipation, since I started oiling my chips. So do it.

I find oiling relaxing. You have these boxes full of beautiful chips you have been waiting on. I love to put a game on, grab a nice drink, and work my way through the set. Great way to really look at your set before getting it into play.

Agreed. I hadn't played with these for about 6months then a game came up so I broke em out, poured a drink or three, wiped em down and re-oiled. Many compliments.
