Origin of your Username (4 Viewers)

This thread is hilarious. Especially jbutler and bergs. My nickname should be obvious. Like a few other slackers here, it's just my name backwards.

Actually it's my Xbox gamertag Gen9hisKhan. Or Jen-nine-his-khan as one of my buddies pronounces it.

Don't let Butler fool you, the only thing funny about him is his sense of the New Jersey music scene.

Nothing too crazy with me. Back in high school I did a bit of stint DJing at my sister's dance conventions. Since I have a Scotish surname people often referred to me as Mack. So when you're a high schooler lacking any kind of creativity your stage name becomes DJ Mack. And that's a fact, Jack!

Hello and welcome to PCF......no pictures of Hope and Scooter................playing poker.........and you are in SLC? Well I hope you scoot somewhere close to me, always down to chill with another chipper, in my hood especially.

when in need of a username for online poker or any card play I think of my favorite x-men, the guy that can shoot card bombs "Gambit"
...kinda overgrew using him for a profile pic at 15-16, but as a username it rocks :)

..and its a chess move, im 28, it just dawned upon me that more people of my age (should)know it as a chess move XD .. but im a child at heart ;)

College nickname. Name is Troy (surprise, surprise). A frat brother once called me TroyBoy. I said "there's no 'boy' here". He said, "oh.. sorry...TroyMAN" . He then started calling me that. Others took notice and it stuck.

I picked upNdown when I started posting on mountain bike forums, over 15 years ago. A good cyclist pedals in nice smooth circles. But a big hack like me will mash the pedals Up and Down like he's on a cheap stair master.
It seemed like a good name to use on a poker chip forum, because it also describes my stack on any given night.

I was introduced to PartyPoker by a friend back in 2003 and his username on there was Cecil182, a combination of Cecil from Final Fantasy IV and Blink 182. So I went with my favourite character, Kain, from the same game and my favourite number 8, and there you have it!

For any 90's kids, there was a cartoon called Doug on Nickelodeon. His best friend was Mosquito Valentine, "Skeeter" for short. He was tall and thin, like me. In college, one of my friends brought this comparison up at a party, and from that day forward, it stuck. One mention, many beers, labeled for life.

New to the forum. Great to be here!

I started playing on PokerStars years ago, around 2008 or so (when I, admittedly, wasn't legal in age to gamble, but just played free money) and used River Ace but wanted a number at the end. At the time I was playing hockey and my number was 1 so my name has always been some variation of RiverAce1. My current PokerStars name required the use of 01 so that's why I used it here.

For me, it was the movie "That Thing You Do", and the one guy who kept saying "I am Spartacus". I needed a clever screen name way back when, and went with krafticus. (Actually, it started with my email address, which is "iamkrafticus......"). Not sure why I opted for the "i" instead of an "a"; probably because it looked better.

Just in case you "Onedered". ;-)

I though it had to do with your weapon of choice.

I liked the movie and my first email address, back when Al Gore invented the Internet, started with joseywales. I started using it as a username for the various forums as well.

To be honest, this is the first forum where I almost instantly regretted using it and wanted to change it, but that would take an act of congress. Eh..I've been called worse.

Squibyboom, it's my game name or the name I use when I'm uncomfortable with my ture identity online. I came up with it when I was in college, learning about explosives. The incendiary device that ignites an explosive is called a squib. So when the squib comes the boom goes . Originally I just used squiby but I ran into issues with it being taken. So I added the boom. :p

The best dog I ever had was named Bob. "Bob" is never available, and "Bobdog" became scarce. So XBobdog became my goto username for the last 10ish years.

Bob is gone going on 5 years, but his screen name lives on.

It's also a general strategy term, and applies in poker, bridge... I totally took your name as a card term.

A gambit is any time you take a strategic risk that you can pay off bigger than the risk.

The check in a check-raise, or slow playing with less than the nuts... Gambits.

Semibluffs? Bluffs, even? Gambits.
