Padded Folding Chairs (2 Viewers)

We've had 3 chairs "pretzeled" by 2 different players. In a tournament setting, it's not always feasible to move chairs around, so I simply make sure all new chairs are now rated for 500+ pounds. Not that any players are 500 pounds, but I have found that larger players don't stand and then push the chair back, they slide backwards with full weight on the chair. that puts the vast majority of the force on the rear legs of the chair as they drag against /dig into the carpet, or they catch a grout line between tiles in the kitchen.

I analyse every broken item at the end of an event. I'm like the NTSB of chair crashes.

I use these at my game. You can get them at Costco for $14.99 each (usually)...

fwiw, i prefer cloth vs vinyl covering -- cloth breathes, and doesn't make you sweat or stick to your skin. Clean-up issues has never been a problem at our games. YMMV.

I agree, I like the cloth chairs better too. I have 8 of them now. Thinking about upgrading to the ones @Mr Tree recommended.

Thanks again! (y)

You have a good point about the sweating issue for the fatties, especially in the summer. Mmmm, not sure now.

Yup cloth all the way for me too...the feel, comfort and looks are all better IMO. And when people get up from their seat, there isn't a nasty swamp-ass stain that you typically find with vinyl.

So my wife found these at Costco for $15. I havent seen them in person. She didnt like the color much but they are cheap. Anyone used these? Are they comfortable?

These are similar to some of the ones I have now and are good in my opinion. I assume you can buy them at all local Costco's correct?

But I would like to try and buy the upgraded ones with extra padding If possible. If not I may go with Costco if they have stock in Denver.

What upgraded padding ones were you thinking about?

NM I just saw justsomedude's post above. I see he uses these chairs.

How long have you been using these chairs? Are you happy with them? They seem like a decent price. Comfy for longer games?

Well I haven't had anyone complain about them and I think they are decent to use. Better then having no padding at all in my opinion.

So you have these and you need more? Or you thinking about upgrading? I'm curious to hear what justsomedude says about his?

Just buy them and if people complain, tell them to play better. People don't seem to complain about shit like that when they are winning.

For my games the Costco chairs are just fine. I've had them about a year and they work for shorter cash games (5-6 hours) and longer tournies (8-9 hours). Sure - they aren't casino chairs, but they aren't metal folding chairs either - some padding is better than none.

As for comfy? That's a relative term. I may get in with @Kyle on a Colorado group buy for the extra thick padded chairs (if we get 50 we can save on the insane shipping costs). Then I'd have 10 of the Costco chairs and 10 of the extra padded chairs.

But for $15 a piece, you really can't beat the Costco option, especially when un-padded used and beat up metal folding chairs go for $10-$15 each on Craigslist.

Here's my crew with the Costco Specials...

Sweet. Can you link the upgraded chairs? How much do they cost each?

I have some of them now. But would like to upgrade. We need to buy 50 to get free shipping though. If we cannot do a Group Buy in Denver I will have to look at the ones from Costco that you referenced.

Got it. Yeah these look pretty great, and for $21 vs $15 for the Costco ones, seems like a complete no-brainer if you can get around the shipping issue. I wonder if these will look good with platinum speed cloth and a black vinyl rail?

I'd also have to say these would look good with a hot girl sitting on it with no top on.

As an aside, there is one thing that really tilts me. If you are a fatty, you should know you need a sturdy chair, of which I have plenty. But they don't go and ask for a sturdy chair, instead they grab one of my folding chairs and by the end of the night the thing is bent like a pretzel. I mean, you should know if you are going to wreck a chair but they sit in it anyways.

WTF!

IMHO, alcohol ruins more chairs than overweight people do...

Heads-up, these also sell at Staples for $34. You can often find a 20% off coupon. Would come out to $27.20 / chair.

Plus local tax.

AFAIC the group buy for 50 is really the only way to go. At $27 I'd just stick with the $15 Costco special.

@Kyle... you should post up a Colorado Only group buy here to see if we can get the other 20-some chairs we need.

I'd definitely be in for 10 if we can stay below $21 each.

Maybe we can twist @ruskba 's arm into buying a bunch too.

:D

I'm waiting for the right timing to suggest to the wife that we need to upgrade. Hopefully I'll be in for 10.

I was thinking I could use these chairs for outdoor BBQs and kids parties, to at least double up my utility and get the wife on board.

But do you think they will get ruined by evil toddlers?

How do you guys clean these chairs if they get wine or ketchup on them?

Yeah sounds good. I will wait after our tourney in June to post after talking with the group in person. You know how it goes as some people never respond to emails.(n)(n)
