Awesome package from @FestiveKnight doing a blind trade.

We sent a lot of overlaps to each other too. Looking forward to trying the narrower sticks.

A few new sticks in here I’m excited about and a bunch of old familiars that are welcome stock ups.

Anyone looking to do some trades, blind or otherwise hmu!

Really interested in seeing how you like the 8-5-8 Claro and Magic Toast. Most people don't seem to like a Candela and I can never find them locally except at St. Patricks day. I'm gonna bring it back one person at a time. I happen to think most Alec Bradley stuff is a lot of marketing, but I really like those Magic Toasts and the box press brings something different.

Also, we both included a sweet tip, as much as people love to hate them, they are still popular sticks.

@joeyshin introducing someone else to P.G. Cigars.

I quite like candela in moderation. I quite like RoMa who I think use it very appropriately. Not always a fan of it when it's just tossed in for aesthetics.

Haha, TBH I'm not a fan of infused sticks at all. I loved Isla del Sol when I first got into cigars ~10 years ago and can barely stand to have them smoked around me. I tossed that in because IIRC you are relatively new to cigars and thought you might not have tried one. Which stick is infused that you sent?

Looking forward to trying to PG after I give it a bit of rest. Just hope you'll be my supplier if you get me hooked :P

The Sobremesa Brulee Blue is not infused but a LOT of people claim all the Sobremesa have sweet tips even though Saka swears they don't:
https://halfwheel.com/sobremesa-brulee-blue/381904/

I'm not wild about the infused stuff myself except a sweet tip cause I have a big sweet tooth and they are nice if I'm snacking on something. I've had the smaller crazy alice but not the larger vitolas.

My friends on the other hand CRUSH coffee infused stuff so I normally have a bunch on hand. I have an entire tupedor that is just full of Nub Cafe and Macanudo Ms. Smells like a damn starbucks whenever I open that thing up.

I was going to wait until the weekend, but I'm gonna go crack that whisky sample... I have no patience.

Yep, one of my brothers only smokes coffee infused sticks.

Looking forward to trying the stick, as I said, used to enjoy em a lot once upon a time

Glad you are happy with the box.
Casa Fuente is my favorite.
Don Carlos is my 2nd favorite and if I could afford would be my everyday smoke.
The el Rico is a cigar that is over 20 years old found in the back of my local shop's humidor. They are incredible.

Enjoy

@FestiveKnight

They came in, looking forward to trying some of them I have never had, like the Placencia

But going to have to wait till I get over this summer cold

That HUpmann half corona is one of my favorite smokes.

I found AJ Fernandez Last Call very similar for a little less which has become my daily smoke. But that half corona is a great smoke for its price

HUHC is killer CC value. When they were regularly available at $20 for 5 it couldn't be beat for a short smoke.

That orange tin was $20? I think I buy box of 25 for $125. They’re so cheap for their smoke. It’s rich and creamy but mild-mid bodied. Honestly I’ve smoked 3 back to back and never had tongue bite or too much spice. They’re the perfect short smoke.

Next small order came in. Going to be trying a Graycliff AJ Salamone Maduro. 12 for $36. Nearly every cigar pic I post, I paid $3-$4 a stick.

Not my pic, but this is the stick.

Like poker chips, I do not add up what I spend on cigars. That would be a mistake. I do know what my high is for total smokes in a day. A day is defined here from morning until you go to bed so that might be at 4am. Somehow I managed to smoke 15 in a day (there were a number of rubustos). It was pretty much without any breaks.

Anybody want to share your high?

Just tried the PG Soirée @JustDave @joeyshin. Here are some quickly jotted notes:

Stick was very well constructed, great smoke production, beautiful oily wrapper.

First third started right off with leather and an interesting sweetness on the retrohale and rounded out with a bit of white pepper.

Second third brought in a hint of charred meat and the sweetness in the retro continued, maybe even fruity?

Final third had a pleasant toasted nuts and more leather ending with notes of hay and some burnt caramel.

The stick was surprisingly lighter than I expected with how it started and was very smooth throughout. I was surprised by the complete lack of pepperiness or earthiness in the retrohale. Do y’all know anything about the blend? I have to assumed there’s a bunch of Honduran and not much Nicaraguan tobacco in it. Overall I have to say I wasn’t blown away, the cigar started off a bit underwhelming (though I think I also overtoasted it) and I kept waiting for a stronger aftertaste to come in. Maybe I’ve also been spoiled by some of Plasencias and CCs I’ve been smoking recently that just have such a stronger flavor.

Curious what tasting notes y’all get from them? Definitely going to leave the next one to rest for a few months.

They are milder cigars so if you like more full bodied they might leave you in want. They have different series. Gourmet 1-4? Gran Reserva, 15th anniversary’s and 20th anniversaries. They’re not the cheapest cigars but definitely not the priciest, and I think their quality and consumption hit way above their price. But I’ve only tried 2 different series.

When I said I had 3 cigars back to back I mean from finishing one to immediately lighting another.

As far as cigars a day, I have 2 cigars every tues-Fri. One on the way to work and one on the way home. Sometimes I’ll have one late night. I’ve been smoking like this for 2 years. Before then it was probably 2 a month

As far as most in one day? Probably 6 cigars.

I should go back to my pipe. It’d be cheaper

The blend for the Soiree is:
AGED DOMINICAN FILLERS, AGED DOMINICAN BINDER, COLORADO/NICARAGUAN WRAPPER

I think you hit it on the head for P.G. in general, very well constructed, some with a just ridiculous amount of age on them(I picked up one just yesterday that were rolled 20 years ago and aged in house), and some very aged tobacco before it's rolled. I know they roll at the davidoff factory, I don't know if they were being blended by Eladio Diaz but Paul Garmian picked those based on his preference. When I've talked to him, his son or the guy who runs the day to day in the shop since the mid 90s, they would call that a full bodied cigar... I think they are baselined around a much older flavor profile before NCs became popular and big bold flavors were all the rage.

I'm not surprised you aren't blown away but I hope you enjoyed it. I find them to just be very well done, if not overly exciting sticks. The other one is Dominican filler and binder with a Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper.

@joeyshin do I remember that you like the Artisan series? I think those are even lighter? I don't know how they compare to other modern 'light' cigars.
