PCF Powerball Pool for Monday October 9th, 2023 (5 Viewers)

I have a comment on this part of the rules:

Say @ChipMonster collects $800 from participants; if no one hits the jackpot but we win $7,500, does it make sense to reinvest all of it into the next drawing?

I’d propose putting a matching amount ($800 in my example) toward the following drawing and hold the rest in reserve to put toward subsequent drawings in case no one hits the jackpot again. Rinse and repeat with any future non-jackpot winnings.

Once the jackpot hits, either by us or by someone else, any amount remaining in the reserves would be distributed based on the other rules.

What do people think? (I did ask @ChipMonster privately first but he asked that I post to see if there’s any consensus.)
This is how I ended up with a Charleston Chew after winning $70 off my first scratch off ticket…

this is where we currently stand with $673 total once all funds are collected. A number of folks posted interest on this thread that need to PM me for payment details.

Last update of the night. We’re at $725 once all money has been paid so still have room to add. I have a very hectic morning with work so for anyone still interested, send me a PM before 12pm CT tomorrow and as long as I can collect funds before I leave work we should be all set and I’ll pick up tickets on way home.

Cool idea.

It seems from the comments you've done this before. So I assume you've worked out the details of what happens in the event of a win.

Are you setting up a trust to claim the prize? Or do you intend to claim the prize as an individual? Have you disclosed who you are in real life? How will we know if you've (i.e. the pool) won anything aside from your word?

(OP, I don't know you at all and I can't recall any interactions we've had - so please don't take this as an attack on your integrity.)

What's to stop you from purchasing drawings independent from the pool - in which case if you won you could claim the entire prize yourself regardless of whether the winning ticket was purchased from pool funds or by you personally?

I guess to put it another way, what safeguards are in place to keep the pool participants from getting screwed?

It's be cool if @Hornet or @upNdown could chime in with their legal perspective.
